A question for those who use broadleaf timber. I've wondered what lengths of log are required by end-users. I'm thinking of how to get some possible commercial wood eventually, excluding firewood!-from native woodland plots with alder/birch/oak mixes. Would 2 clear metres be of interest to furniture makers or wood turners? I'm cognizant of the fact that most NWS plantations is grown on piss-poor land that might suffer from exposure.
    Just throwing it out there.

    Thanks

I see your query was made in May. Afraid I do not have the answer to your questions.

This week I knocked 4 tallish ash trees with straight lengths of 3m to 6m. From 0.3 to 0.5 diameter.

Are there any buyers out there for such pieces - other than firewood?
