Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

God I hope so. Would love a bit of transfer drama

£32m for Ings according to Transfrmarket.

So that should be £6.4m to use.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Came in to post the same myself. There could be some work there with Origi moving to Saints, and he could end up suiting them too.

Maybe even just sell both Taki & Origi for a combined £40m and we'll forget about the sell on clause from the Ings deal. Suits all parties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I wouldn't be surprised if it's Minamino Southampton come looking for not Origi.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,374 ✭✭✭robwen

#LFC negotiated a 20% sell-on clause for Danny Ings when he left. But it's 20% of any fee above £20 million (which is what they sold him to Southampton for). So if he's gone to Villa for £30 million, LFC will get £2 million.

    According to James Pearce

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the club feel like they replaced Gini last season with Thiago. Shame he's nowhere near as robust as Gini. They probably feel with Thiago, Jones and Kieta, they can cover Gini's minutes. Putting a lot faith it seems in the specialist recovery guy they brought in to keep the likes of Kieta and Ox fit.

I don't agree with it and hope we pull a rabbit out of a hat like we did with Jota but I wouldn't be at all surprised if that the case.

As explained in the Transfer thread it's 20% of fees above 20m, so around 1m.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,374 ✭✭✭robwen

If that's the level of math in the transfer thread I'll stay clear 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,287 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

As in we would be getting 20% of the 5m above the 20m cutoff point. I may not have explained that correctly or you didn't get it or something something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Pretty much every reporter is saying Ings cost 30m to 32m so that would make it 20% of 10/12m which would make it 2m not 1m.

Sky, The Guardian and Telegraph all running with 25m, The Athletic going with 30m. All depends on what someone read.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,199 ✭✭✭Talisman

Ings transfer to Villa doesn't really impact Liverpool financially unless it prompts a move for one of the players we're looking to move on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,688 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Wonder for 25m would Klopp consider taking Ings back. Probably not but he has done well at Southampton, his finishing is as good if not better now than before his two major injuries. Villa are getting a good deal there at that price.

Not only would a new signing be good for squad depth and competition but it would also increase squad morale.

If Mane and Firmino misfire again this season, it's demoralising that we only have Jota to bring on. Can't be relying on Origi again this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Ken Tucky

Whats also demoralising too is the amount of funds that our competition can spend.

100M on one player for City and probably going to add the English captain too. United have spent and Chelsea will too, very hard to compete with it!!

Ing's moves means probably one of Taki or Origi will go the saints, Hopefully both ,

Anyone see Alberto Moreno last night , the lad was never the brightest,

He posted a picture of himself in action in the Leicester game & never realised if you look closely in the back ground you can see Fofana sitting there alone with the bottom half of his leg pointing the wrong way , After loads of comments pointing it out Alberto deleted the picture,

The picture of him must have been a second after the challenge as he picked up the lose ball ,

Southampton will not pay Origi's wages, no chance.

Minamino was of no use during his loan spell, no chance they buy him. Actually spoke with a Saints fan, he said theres zero chance, said he is too lightweight and that Hassenhuttl isn't too keen on him.

They will bring in a midfielder and a forward for the Ings money, probably from France or Germany.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Hassenhuttl himself literally confirmed they still wanted to make it permanent this summer, and that it just depends on what Liverpool will do in the transfer market..

“The most important thing for him is that he gets a chance to play,” Hasenhuttl told Hampshire Live earlier this week. “We have had talks with them and they are not so sure what will happen with him because Liverpool may make some things happen in the transfer market.”

Hassenhuttl has spoken very positively about Minamino and talked during the summer about having talks with Liverpool over the summer about signing Minamino fulltime however it would be down to Liverpool and what they want.

Yeah currently financially we can't compete with the 2 oil backed clubs and Man Utd.

There was only 4 or 5 subs named as well so a good few minutes for VVD you'd imagine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

2 of the 5 are keepers too. Rhys Williams is on there, so I'd say VVD gets 45 minutes, and Rhys gets the last 15.

Interesting to see Woodburn on the bench too, likely to get a nice few minutes. And Robbo probably coming off for Beck, which is no harm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,688 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

I think Mane will be fine this season and get back to his best. Firmino is a worry though given his importance to the system Klopp plays. I hope Klopp and the coaches have discussed what a plan B would look like if Bobby doesnt reach the heights of the league winning season. It was a glaring problem in the second half of the last season so if it repeats itself this one it needs to be solved quickly without using numerous PL games as experiments.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

It's two 60 minute games today so I wouldn't be surprised if VVD gets 30 minutes at the start of the first game and maybe 30 minutes at the end of the second game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Jeez, I dunno if that warming up, playing half an hour, followed by a cooldown and then trying to warm back up again is ideal for a lad coming back from a serious injury... I'm not sure that anyone involved in the first game will be involved in the second to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Hassenhuttl can talk up Minamino but he didn't actually use him very often, he only played 50% of the time in a poor Southampton team who also had a lot of injury problems. He hasn't shown anything to suggest he's worth more than the 7m the club paid but I guess they want at least twice that.

A first for Jota. Was far too easy for him tbh.

Talk this afternoon that Leicester are looking for replacement for Maddison if Arsenal come up with the money for Maddison and Shaq is on there list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    That's the 2nd from Mane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Would make a certain amount of sense… they had been playing Vardy with Maddison and Barnes in attacking roles behind. But Iheanacho’s form and them buying Daka makes its likely they’ll keep playing 2 up, like how they finished the season. Which relegates Maddison’s role a bit anyway, so if they could replace him in the squad with a cheap enough multi-purpose option like Shaq and get in good money they’d be in good shape.

    Kit looks like United

Spending half the time just looking at the view to be honest!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Why are we wearing black shorts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

They’re the away shorts it looks like… maybe they intended on wearing the white away kit, then Bologna turned up in their own white away kit so the lads threw on the home jerseys?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

A good run out for them there.

Hopefully the second game gives them as good a run out.

Mane seems to have found his scoring boots in pre-season anyways. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come in the real season and that the break and holiday at home in Senegal did him the world of good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

He just kinda looks happier too, doesn’t he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,417 ✭✭✭.G.

He's mentioned that last season was tough for him physically and mentally and he feels much better this time around. Hoping to see normal Sadio back this season challenging Mo for the golden boot again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Mane lives by himself and didn't get a chance to go home to Senegal for over a year where he seems to be able to refresh his batteries with all his charity work that had to take a lot out of him.

I know not being able to get out past 5km effected me.

He got home to Senegal this summer and really seemed to be enjoying himself and getting a lot done for his charity.

Looks over the course of preseason Phillip's is getting the message that he will be 5th/6th choice CB this season.

I wonder will he himself be happy with this after having first team football last season.

Sheff Utd manager speaking on Ben Davies.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭Blanco100

Davies went home from the pre season trip for personal reasons and was photographed at a wedding the following day.

Currently training with the U-23's and won't be rejoining the first team squad. Something brewing anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,042 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Kind of expecting a Davies loan with an obligation to buy if Sheff Utd go back up.
