Didn't take long for the Alisson injury fears to be exposed, Kelleher inspires zero confidence in me.

Surprised at the Gravenberch comments, I think he's looking very good so far, like a gazelle at times gliding across the pitch.

Endo was absolutely immense when he came on!Absolutely buzzing after that! 😀

Well we've looking for the midfielders to add to the goals

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Mental game, we should have scored at least 6or7 and yet anything Fulham hit found the back of the net. We looked very unconvincing and poor tho at the back, I think a lot of that is down to the assuring presence of Alli not behind them. It's going to be a long few weeks without him.

Until Ali is back we're going to concede a lot of goals that we wouldn't normally so it's either outscore teams or tighten up and try not to give away as many chances anymore. It'll be interesting to see what Klopp tries.

    Get in!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,302 ✭✭✭✭rob316

1st goal probably beats Ali, 2nd goal he saves, I thought kelleher took an absolute age to get to the other side of the goal for the 3rd.

    Get well soon Alisson.

As someone who just recently posted saying that Allison was our most important player over Salah or anyone I'll happily admit it. ☺️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,216 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Macca and Szobo look knackered lately. Not ideal with games coming thick and fast. Maybe a midfield of Endo, Elliott and Jones could work for Wednesday night.

I don't want to be a negative Nancy but I wasn't happy with that performance today. But then 4 goals scored and a few crackers in that. Kelleher was poor, including a couple lazy passes that almost got caught out and Diaz wasn't on it at all.

I did think that Gakpo was good when he came on, and Endo was too. 2 big subs that helped swing the game in Liverpool's favour. Gakpo was able to hold onto the ball in the final third and help knit attacks together better. The team had gone flat before that.

But the win is the most important thing in this hectic schedule. Need to take maximum points from playing the bottom half teams and that is 1 done 2 to go in the week.

Yep and Szoboszlai coming off (on 60?) in a league game when chasing a goal is a rare sight. Klopp must be trying to manage his minutes as he will be playing every game now this month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,398 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Looks like Matip will be out for a while according to Klopp.

That collision on the sideline, seemed to land awkwardly.

I guess it means that Konate comes in now regularly in the PL and maybe Gomez becomes more CB than RB. Which then means that Tsimikas plays more minutes and also possibly Bradley becomes a late RB sub in some games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,476 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

Klopp took a chance, Trent and Grav as the 2 CMs in a 4-2-4 (more or less) left us very exposed. As soon as the 3rd Fulham goal went in, Endo came on and changed the game.

We haven't looked overly convincing the last 2/3 weeks and it has coincided with a drop off in Szobolozi levels, I'm not sure if it's a fitness thing or what, but he's no where near the levels we saw in September and October....

    Loved that game.

That's what it's all about. Trent you absolute legend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭giveitholly

So we have 2 away games coming up against teams in the bottom half. Only two away games won in the league this season. If we are in a title race then we need to win those 2 games, let's see what happens

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭Girly Gal

Getting the 3 points is all that matters, can't afford to be dropping points at home against sides like Fulham. Ali is a massive loss, as we tend to give up a lot of good chances in every match that Ali tends to save, so until he returns I think we're going to have a few more similar high scoring games, fine if we win them all, but, has the potential to derail any possible title challenge. Kelleher is a long way off Ali's level ( as are most goalkeepers) so the next few games are going to be more difficult for us than they should be. Delighted Endo scored, felt he was getting a lot of harsh criticism on here lately.

I've just celebrated a goal against Man City. That's when you know you're in a title race again!

5 point turnaround in our favour from the 87th minute of both games today. That’s massive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 391 ✭✭bdmc16

It's almost like the fresh exciting approach his brought as a new signing ave been nullified gradually by the role/tactics he's having to adapt to . It's a big issue have Grav and Szobo being so flat today .

Szobo played alot of football recently so he could be overplayed and need a break .

If I may, I'd like to rescind my 'he sucks' comment about Gravenberch. Knee-jerk, I was absolutely fuming with that ridiculous pass but no need for me 'voicing' momentary thoughts.

I think - and not just because he scored that cracker - Endo should be starting these games against the 'lesser' teams. If we are playing 3 forwards, 2 attack-minded mids and attacking wingbacks I'd like Endo protecting the back 4 (or 2). I think we just need a specialist sitting back there.

Gakpo was great when he came on.

I love Nunez but I'd like to shake the f*ck out of him at times.

Kelleher is a 2nd string keeper. I think we tend to forget (as I think Titian mentioned?) how phenomenal Ali actually is. Expectations need to be lessened when he's not playing unfortunately.

    Wonderful being in 2nd spot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Ya his first few games he used to drive forward so effortlessly with these driving dinking runs from deep, but they seem to be non existent now. As you say, that could be a tactical thing and he's adapting to a more reserved controlled role within the team. But whatever it is, he has lost a lot of impact around the pitch in all departments. Really hope he can get back at it as the month of December his energy will be badly needed...

Three of our back 5 were second choice if we assume our strongest back five is Alisson, Robbo, VVD, Konate and TAA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,125 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

I still like the balance a specialist DM brings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,659 ✭✭✭The Rooster

Gakpo and Endo have to be rewarded with starts on Wed. No harm for Szobo to have a game from the bench, he’s class but he’s had a big workload

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Ya I think he needs a stint on the bench and coming on in the 2nd half to get back to himself....I'd go with Endo, Mac and Grab on Wednesday.

Put Gomez right back on Weds too and let Trent play conventional midfield without worrying about defensive duties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,746 ✭✭✭giveitholly

I don’t think Mac,Szobo and Gravenberch work as a 3 in midfield. I know Curtis Jones was poor against city but I still think he is very important at the moment to give us more control in midfield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,072 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Yeah, would be good with that - in this hybrid thing Trent is always coming in as a second DM almost, but he's pretty poor in those midfield positions. Would be interesting to see him in an actual dedicated midfield role think his best position then would be more of the Szobo role, marauding forward with two more defensive minded midfielders in there as well.

Today's the first game i've not seen in full this season, but caught extended highlights, and went through the thread after to relive it properly - lots of overwrought Grav comments of course, but also such a weird obsession with peoples hair 😅... like, I understand commenting on it, it's interesting looking, but some lads demanding 'short back and sides' is so strange to me, as if it makes even the tiniest bit of difference. It's like some lads just can't handle somebody else looking a bit different in any way. Would have to feel sorry for 'em.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,652 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

For all the hate, Endo did a solid job and bolstered things for the 15 or 20 minutes he played today. Goal aside, he did the DM job well and gave us a base. A square peg in a square hole, sometimes simple things work best, and he gave us solidity we didn't have to that point.

Dominick looked shot when he came off, he's been busy and gives a lot of energy to Hungary as their captain, a lot of extra work for the lad. We're lucky as I said last week that Allison is only missing (hopefully) today and Sheff Utd

I think Kelleher isn't even PL standard. His shot stopping is just not up to that level.

City had half the team screaming in the ref's and 4th official's faces, including Haaland clearly screaming at the ref to "F*ck Off" a few times so if the rules are still being applied that's a ban...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,620 ✭✭✭Damien360

What rules. They bought the PL title and they don't get touched.

Trents goal was class, I know the other 3 weren't half bad either, but he knew exactly what he was doing there, placed it low to the left, rather than just hitting it and hoping.

Salah will say one word and get a yellow card, protest and he will get a second,,,,,,,,

One goal in his last 7 prem games a bigger worry for Nunez than his hair.

Endo definitely deserves a start on Wed.

Will be a tough game with our defensive fragility.
