Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Szoboszlai is a bit rusty, to be expected when he's been out so long. Really should have hit the target with his header.

Hope Salah is on at H/T. City are shaky at the back but Elliot has been slow and playing very narrow all the half. Bradley/Salah overlap will yield a goal.

    Nunez. Learn offside FFS

Elliott was in there but Szobo’s pass just went slightly behind him.

Got to laugh at Oliver he booked Trent a few season ago for taken a throw in faster than any of Walkers today

I don't think we realise just how big an ask today is.

There is a reason our side has been talking constantly about Anfield. Eeking out a bit of mythological power from the stadium is the only reasonable chance we should have against the best team in the world, who've no major injuries to speak of, when we're fielding a team with no Salah, Trent, Alisson or Konate (to name a few).

This would be utterly miraculous to get a point even, and I've been saying it all week.

Remember that time trent was booked for time wasting at a throw at start of the season. And then they just decided not to do that anymore.

Remember virg got a ban for abusing the ref and its now fine again.

They are a joke for supposed professionals

Opened up good for Diaz, he only had to place it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,983 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

We've had enough chances to make it 1-1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,653 ✭✭✭Thud

we're creating a lot of chances, get Salah on at HT to convert some of them

Elliott’s looked really sharp so far, that’s a positive but it would’ve been such an advantage to have Salah fit enough to start so we could’ve kept Harvey in reserve to change the game in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,198 ✭✭✭Xander10

    Diaz close

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,324 ✭✭✭ratracer

Remember McAllister got booked for asking for a yellow, but that was the end of that rule for anyone else….

Honestly lads up top are killing us

Walker should be on a yellow from the 20th minute which changes everything but instead he just gets away with foul after foul as usual. I'm so tired of having to play against 12 men week in week out.

Gomez needs to come off. He’s getting burned.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that choice of word.

    Joe, please stop diving in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,516 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

    Bradley has to smash that.

Bradley had to take the shot on there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,411 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

We’ve actually had plenty of attacking possession. All the more frustrating to go in behind to a gammy goal from a corner.

Salah and Jota on the field and I reckon we’d have scored at least one that half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭ArtyM

Rodri gets a Yellow card, that's one for the history books.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,624 ✭✭✭Damien360

Why didn't Bradley just shoot instead of across the box.

At this point I would have Diaz shot from a cannon. He keeps holding up and trying to get back on his right.

    Cheeky shot from free kick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,983 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Fingers crossed Salah has 45 in him

Pretty good half, obviously not on the scoreline, but happy with the performance, have mostly matched them. More of the same and Salah on at 55ish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,746 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

Sky saying City owned the half. Not quite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,595 ✭✭✭kingshankly

City shaded it but not by much big second half coming up salah on will immediately put city defending deeper

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Playing OK. Poor goal to concede.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,663 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Bad goal aside it's been just OK.

Robbo needs to come on, probably Joe to go off but Bradley looked tired on that last attack, he's been excellent though.

Lacking a bit close to goal, how long has Mo in him is the question? This game is far from done, we're still more than in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,535 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

We should be leading , haven't hit the target, they got a lucky goal. Need Salah on, and Robertson. Gakpo too for Diaz. Nunez wide, Gakpo center, Salah wide

    Kill em that way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,519 ✭✭✭✭noodler

There's been dodge moments but definitely grew into it. We've been wasteful, not necessarily chances as such, but definitely positive situations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭mormank

Harvey Elliot having his usual average to poor first half for us. But I'm more disappointed with Nunez and Diaz. Nunez for being offside in a couple spots where he had no excuse to be. Someone should tell that lad how fast he is!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,516 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I want Salah on, but not at the cost of taking Elliott off. Diaz deserves to be hooked but there’s no way to make that work without doing a lot of reshuffling.

Still think we can take at least a point from this. We’ve played pretty well until the final third, and Salah still to come on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 618 ✭✭✭breffni bogballer

So long as it stays at 0-1 we've a chance,if city go 2 up we're fcucked,2/3 up front are killing us

I honestly don’t know what to make of Diaz, just stutters with the ball in attack and never runs past a man at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,073 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

We are playing well for the most part, Sobo and Diaz and Mac are doing well.

Would expect Salah for Sobo with Elliott dropping into midfield and Robbo for Bradley with Joe coming across to RB.

    We'll get chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,519 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I've been happy enough with Elliott?

Setup the Sobo headed chance, tracking back well. Rarely wastes a pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,420 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

City the better team for the first 10 minutes, we were the better team for the second 10 minutes and it's been fairly back and forth since then. Surprising lack of fouls so far but Walker should definitely been booked for his two fouls to stop breaks.

Bradley should have taken a shot there at the end of the half rather than pulling it back across the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,303 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Alvarez and ake the weak links for city and we don't have the pace down the right to exploit them as well as Elliot and Bradley have done. Get Salah and Robertson on, diaz is frustrating the **** out of me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,299 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Harvey had a very decent half I thought, some clever passing and movement. Darwin offside too often and Diaz has gotten the ball stuck under his feet too often. We are still well in this. Robbo and Mo are capable of giving us a big shot of energy off the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,137 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

Harvey has been absolutely fine this half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 681 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Endo and Bradley very good in that half. As I expected though it's our ability to finish that's killing us. Hopefully Mo can help with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,326 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Thought Elliot has had a good half. Bradley has looked very good too.

Just a pity Diaz and Nunez seem to be a bit off. They have the makings of a good player - but probably between them.
