Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

These early League Cup games are fun as we get to watch new players play with freedom and also not really worry about the result overall.

Moving away from the mane talk, really looking forward to seeing how kaide gets on tonight ..

With the relative disappointment with the way Solanke and Brewster turned out it would be nice if Gordon turns out to be real deal. Obviously he's still very young but he has the potential from what we are hearing...

Nice to have iit on Sky, can't wait to see Bradley and Gordon in particular. 16 years old, some night for him.

I always look forward to these games and then it quickly lools lile 11 lads who have never palyed together and they all look disjointed and poor

Fingers crossed its not the same tonight

Yeah, always prefer EFL to the FA cup for that reason - it’s a bit different, and you see all the next generation of talent and fringe players (and City’s billion pounds worth of reserves), all trying their hardest to impress. The FA cup is kinda in a no mans land of being the least important games the first teamers play.

Yet another goal from a corner! Unreal!

    Takiiiii!

    Well in Mini.

Tsimikas is so easily our best corner taker. It's actually amusing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Another set piece goal. Good for Minamino to get a goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Even away from corners, his crossing seems to be very good. Rarely a bad one, or they are so few I don't notice them.

Another great corner, Konate could have probably done better.

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭orecir

    Unlucky from Konate.

The lad is built like a brick shithouse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Really missing a number 6, We have no base to the midfeild both on the ball and defending

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,931 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Elbow to the temple that hurts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,931 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Nice to see Klopp giving Gordon some one to one coaching on the sideline.

Is Chamberlain drunk? Awful all round performances

Ox is stinking the place up.

Time we cut our losses. Hasn't been of use since that injury.

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭orecir

    Poor from the irish lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Clumsy from Bradley, he's young, it happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,931 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    It is a clear penalty.

    Kelleher saves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

    Good stuff Kelleher!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,948 ✭✭✭dogbert27

    Go on Kelleher!

    Brilliant by Gomez

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Naive by the young lad. Gomez was so deep there.

Great save by Kelleher. Got away with it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

One thing I hate is a team celebrating a penalty. Its not in the net yet

Really clumsy by Bradley but the Norwich player went to buy it. Went in to Bradley for the foul instead of going for the ball

Reckon we'll see Hendo and Jota by 60

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

He did look for it but it was inexperience. Good lesson for him

Poor first half really. Happy to be agead. Kelleher did well. Too many passengers out there, Ox has been pure muck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,044 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Think Ox has improved a bit coming towards the end of the half, but pretty disappointing overall from him.

Minamino actually really poor too, aside from the goal. Just very anonymous - Origi and Gordon both showing for the ball much more.

Otherwise, decent stuff from the kids/reserves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,931 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Clear to see which lads that haven't kicked a ball much in the last year.

No consistent week in week out football really does effect players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,954 ✭✭✭garra

Kelleher has been the best passer of the ball so far, and he doesn't even need to use his feet except to save penalties. Gordon has the same inner calm belying his ridiculous age, has the air of a solid pro already.. The last 5 minutes were great craic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Feel for Ox

Hes on the side of the two young lads and Jones is vacating the 6 position its making Ox isolated in everything he does

If said it multiple times Ox needed a loan move or to be sold he has to play every week to stand any chance of getting his previous form back

Impossible to play once a month and expect to get any form back after his injuries

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Ox absolutely awful. Keita and taki (goal aside) very quiet.

Kelleher reads the game really well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,396 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

All Naby is doing is recycling the ball with quick short passing, he hasn't tried to dribble more than two yards yet. Contrast that to the constant dribbling from Ox and it's clear this is a tactical instruction for both players.

    G’wan Div! Some man.

  • Registered Users Posts: 493 ✭✭BobHopeless

There is no excuse for lack of effort no matter who's playing with him

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,276 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Origi!

    Fine cross !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Tsimakas may be better at delivering balls than Robbo madness

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭orecir

Tmiskas is knocking on the door.

Robbo will wana keep on his toes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Perfect ball from Tsimikas and good for Origi to show he can score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,799 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Origi and Tmiskas have been our best players so that's deserved for both of them! Tmiskas is beginning to look like a quality left back.

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭orecir

Please tell me that naby lad isn't injured again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,539 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

Theres something very enjoyable about watching a mishmash of reserves and kids playing well
