Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, much more than Salah, despite the latter's reputation.

    Arsenal are excellently drilled.

We can't figure them out yet - looking out of ideas.

Arsenal playing quite well, closing us down and not letting us play out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Jota and Diaz very poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Until things settle a bit more, I could see our best chance being an individual error from Arsenal trying to play out at some point.

We can’t keep the ball. Arsenal are swarming us, 4 players around Diaz there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Jota keeps losing it and Diaz needs to show to receive the ball more and get involved

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

How can you come out with that tripe considerating there has been zero for them to work with so far. Just put down the phone and watch it without the need for the pessimistic comments every 2 minutes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

If Arsenal can keep this up for 90 minutes I'll be impressed. They are putting in a ton of work out of possession.

Is there a more annoying sideline manager than Arteta though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

It's already starting to shift. They were always gonna be front-loading their workrate, just a matter of time till the game settles and we get a lot more of the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,642 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Not only are we missing Mo, but we're missing Sadio too. I've been very impressed with him playing as a 9 in recent weeks, and Jota is offering nothing up top for us, at least not yet. Sadio is able to link play like Bobby does, not in the same style but he's still wasted on the right imho.

Arsenal pressuring us well so far. We don't have any time on the ball as soon it gets into the top 2/3 of the pitch.

We are doing fine, great options available from the bench and they are flying around as if it is their World Cup final, see if they can maintain that for 90 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

We've seen this exact pattern play out plenty of times already this season over the first 30 or 40 minutes. Really don't think there's anything to worry about just yet. As the game turns and we get more of the ball, the front 3 will get more chances to work together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,594 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Thiago and Henderson awful out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Partey has been dominant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

I'm pretty sure this is as well as Arsenal can play.

We need Jota off the pitch,

The front 3 is so imbalanced, all over the place evey attack breaks down and there no holding up the play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,363 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Robertson has been brilliant defensively to be fair.

  • Posts: 13,688 ✭✭✭✭ Adelyn Tangy Matchmaking

Mané to be shown a card - 9/2

If I could find a sending off market I'd be on that too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,594 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Some pace in that arsenal side we look very laboured in comparison

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Arsenal sprinting back and our attack is a jog at best.

Martinelli making TAA his bitch, again...

Love how nothing Arsenal do is a foul according to G Nev

Since Jota's injury he's been really poor... really struggling to regain his touch over the past few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,003 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

I just don't get Thiago ....kills all forward moment, doesn't tackle, never scores and rarely creates a chance.

Same happened in the cuo hame and putting Koante oace and oower in beside him stopped it,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,642 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

The 2 footballers on the middle are very quiet, Henderson and Thiago. Fab had been good, but he looks outnumbered by Partay and Xaka. Need to get a base there. Could do with getting in to the dressing room and reorganising cause wece been poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Sounds more like you don't watch Thiago 😅

Not having a brilliant game yet today, but definitely one of our most creative players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,003 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

    Mo at 1/2 time ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Fabinho outstanding. Alisson & back 4 doing well. The rest, meh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Poor enough half, struggling to get into things still. Would hope for improvement second half, especially with options like Mo and Keita on the bench.

On the other side, Arsenal largely non-threatening themselves. We're managing their attacks pretty comfortably, so its just a case of taking more control second half and the lads playing their game.

    Nice edit ...

Creative a backwards pass or unnecessary curl to the side at silly slow pace whilst the opposition re-set

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Don't think there's been a clear chance in the game. Maybe one half chance apiece. Klopp not happy though. Arsenal look well set up. Nice and compact so far anyway. Winning a lot of second balls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,054 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

Need the midfield to step up and get a hold of the game, Hendo and Thiago been far too quite.

    The lads look tired.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

What, adding the line that he's not great today? I mean, yeah, we're not doing great today full stop. But he's the fella who takes control and opens up the pitch better than anyone else in the team. Also no-one in the team can collect the ball under pressure and turn into space like him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Salah for Jota

    Naby for Thiago

Both lads just back from injury & the sharpness is missing from there play,

We need more energy in midfield and the ball to stick up front

Out of possession Arsenal are rushing back into position and all 10 players are shifting side to side and staying compact. There's no space in the final third when we move the ball forward. They're a good team, are well drilled and are working their socks off. They havn't done anything going forward either and you can hear the crowd scream shoot every time they have 2 yards of space 30 yards from goal because they are creating nothing either.

I think we'll see them run out of steam in the final 15 minutes or they will drop further and further back in the second half to conserve energy. Plenty of time left in this, losing is a disaster a draw is not, so not over committing and getting caught out is vital.

2nd best at the moment, Arsenal pretty impressive, but still think we'll sneek it

BTW I took a quick swim on a stream to Hong Kong for the game, couldn't stomach listening to the mumble brothers on Sky.

Regardless of result, Arsenal look better than they have at any stage over the last 3 or 4 years. Look to be very confident too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,054 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

I'm switching for the second half, can't stand them two.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,294 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

Bit of Razor Ramon music there before the start of the 2nd half it sounded like

Nice touch. Sound-man playing Scott Hall's 'Razor Ramon' theme just before the 2nd half started.
