Yep, all that is a factor too. His team are there to give Mo the best options that they can for him. In the end the decision is Mo's (and his family's).

I was at the game yesterday, typical performance after the international break but got the job done. Gomez was very rusty, thiago motm, firmino still putting in the hard yards and work rate.

Curtis Jones was really poor again, he has all the ability to be part of this Liverpool midfield but he's just not doing the simple things. A loan next season I reckon

I'll believe it when my phone gets a new contract notification as it did for Klopp... 😂

Then again, Dejan tweeted a 💪 emoji last night so who knows... 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,100 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I'm sure Klopp would be happier if the contract stuff wasn't in the news every other week too.

Jones was trying the flash stuff when he wasn't even getting the basics right. Has possibly regressed this season when realistically he needed to push on to be kept in consideration.

Jones looked lost at some points out there yesterday, I definitely agree he is always trying flash stuff lately and getting caught out....

Not everyone who is scouse is a Trent, Gerrard or Fowler, I think he may have to move on or at least go out on loan....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

When it comes to Mo, Dejan is probably the most reliable source out there so I’m pretty pleased to read that. 😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,100 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Lovren is a mad anti-vaxxer and into some of that weird stuff like boycotting Disney for some odd reason. He's probably tweeting about that, not Salah's contract.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭Girly Gal

I think he could benefit from a loan too, but, I also think Jones is always likely to be just a squad player for us, I don't think he will ever hold down a first team place when everyone is fit. If he's happy being a squad player then he'll come in handy to fill in for when players are injured or need a rest. He might even end up as a kinda of utility player, providing cover for a few positions, also counts as a home grown player, so that needs to be considered too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,615 ✭✭✭atilladehun

Yeah, i think so too. Keep the head down and find ways to be useful. He doesn't need to be thiago to contribute to winning trophies at Liverpool

If Salah does sign a 350/400k a week contract in the next week, I can see Mane's agent going in a saying well my client wants 300/350k a week and then Bobby's agent goes in and say well my client wants 250/300k a week.

That then whatever player/s the club looks at signing in the summer has their agents go in and say well if 350/400k is the top wage we want the next best and the wage structure is forever broken.

I hope Salah doesn't get 350-400k a week. Other clubs may be happy to pay similar wages but I wouldn't like to go down that road -it clearly doesn't end well.

Continue with a Very Good Base Salary and increase the incentives, fine with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭giveitholly

Yeah the reason he is boycotting Disney is because of his stance on the LGBT community,he seems to have very far right wing views

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,615 ✭✭✭atilladehun

It's definitely a push pull scenario. Bobby doesn't have a hope of getting a massive increase. He knows he's a specialist with limited appeal. He may ask for more but i think he'll settle.

Mane should ask for more. He's not on that much at the moment. Incentives are great for the club but three players don't win every season.

The club may decide to sell mane in the summer. Diaz can be the replacement. Having an extra forward is way more expensive than some of these play rises.

The other thing now that Salah looks to have committed, I wonder if klopp will consider evolving shape and tactics. I know it seems mad to change a winning team but it is important not to get stale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭tinpib

In general the Liverpool owners make very good decisions, and certainly very good decisions when it comes to the finances of the club. Whatever they have offered Salah I imagine it doesn't threaten the long term stability of the club.

The club always looks long term, for example fans were screaming for a CB when VVD initially fell through, they waited for him. Fans screamed for a CB to be bought last Jan, they brought in Kabak on loan then got Konate in the summer.

Klopp is important to Salah, it could be a part of it,

Salah '' oh i'll sign, if you sign mate!'' Deal or no Deal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

The fact that Liverpool were specifically pushing them as a thing to just own and collect for the pleasure of it probably hurt them in sales. Collecting anything is a niche business, whereas NFT's elsewhere are selling well purely because of value speculation. I'm still glad they went the direction they did with them, and I hope this doesn't make them consider opting for a more 'scarcity' driven model.

Biggest week of the season, so far, . Will knowing we have to win at City be an advantage, while Pep is known to be one who tries to be too clever for his own good. Will Pep alter his team, to be tighter, to frustrate Liverpool, or play open and free like they always do at home, giving up plenty of chances to teams who never have the personnel to take them. Of course Kane is not one of those people, he took his chances and Spurs went there and won.

Last 5 teams that went there had a total of 18 shots on target

Salah has 3 league goals from open play, since the turn of year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,100 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Looks like a full squad trained today, including Trent & Keita who were the doubts / coming back to fitness.

Full squad is needed for the next 2 months will all of the games. I can see Keita / Thiago maybe doing a 60/30 rotation at some points and maybe Hendo / Fabinho doing the same too. Dias / Mane perhaps have that option and Jota / Bobby too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,488 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

WHat is going on with Elliott, seems to be back playing for u23's rather than for the first team. Suddenly he's no where near the team, or even the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,293 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Recovering from a nasty injury, needs game time and Klopp will be looking to the more experienced players for the rest of the season.

The Spurs game has been switched to 7:45pm on Saturday the 7th of May

The Villa game is now on Tuesday the 10th of May at 8pm

Southampton game will be switched to Sunday May 15th at 4:30pm which may change again if Liverpool reach the FA Cup Final.

“We are still in all competitions, we are playing good, we have all the chance still to win all those competitions. So just go for it,” Van Dijk said. “Let’s enjoy the ride.”

Seems Virg has no problem talking about winning the quadruple, makes you wonder why some fans have a issue with it.

I think most people know it's completely unrealistic. I think if we win one of the remaining comps we are still in, we'll be doing well.

I'd agree with VVD when he says enjoy the ride. How could one not!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,293 ✭✭✭✭rob316

It's just a thing to beat us with if we fail. We all want to see the lads do it but it's slim, the margin for error is nil. This is a great team, the only team that has been able to compete with us are financial cheats.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭Cetyl Palmitate

New to the forum. How would you go about getting tickets for the Newcastle Liverpool game on April 30? Is it unreasonable to expect any to be around at this stage? Can you pick them up outside the ground if you were there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Just realised looking at the table now that the win last weekend saw us break past last seasons points total with 8 more games to go. We've also already scored 9 more goals than we did all last season.

That's an away game you'll have no chance there. Maybe you can get a ticket with the home fans.

Can't even afford to pay our current player's what they want 😂

    "Made contact with PSG'

Over a player who's about to become a free agent.

    😂

If that's a parody or satirical account which I suspect it is, it's a very good one.

Do we really HAVE to win on Sunday as often mentioned here though? A must win with 8 to go at the home of the other title rival? Must not loose certainly, love to win, but a draw wouldn't be a disaster. With the busy run ins, it's more than possible both teams drop points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,100 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

A win is the only way that the title is still in Liverpool's hands and the only game that Liverpool can directly affect City's points total.

We need City to drop points and they play Brighton, Watford, Leeds, Newcastle etc after Sundays game. I don't see them dropping any points there.

We have the harder fixture so a win may not even be enough , a draw i suppose we could live with but a lose would end our hopes it in my opinion ,

  • Registered Users Posts: 304 ✭✭Robert2014

There is hope that potentially City make take the eye of the ball if they are still in the Champions League, particularly if they have 2 ties against Chelsea and what happened in the final last year. Pep may rotate one player too many, and give teams a chance. The teams that have given City trouble this season have been mid table teams like Spurs, Southampton and Palace so there is a chance. Better to win though and keep it in our hands. A win does not win us the league but a loss and City win the league as 4 points difference at this stage and it's over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,293 ✭✭✭✭rob316

We have to win Sunday don't kid yourself any other result is enough and a win may still not be enough to win the league our remaining fixtures are tough. The spurs game is standing out to me, they are in the mix for 4th and beaten city twice this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,417 ✭✭✭.G.

How I see it too. If we need them to drop points then the best time to make that happen is by beating them, not by hoping for others to do it. A draw may not be the end of things but they showed in 18/19 that if they have to win win win win for the rest of the season they can do it.

Were also on a ten game win streak. The longer those streaks go the closer they are to ending.

We need to turn thst run into 18 straight wins to be sure, possible but very difficult.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 433 ✭✭redlad12

I think you look back at 18/19 to see your answer and look at their fixtures. Realistically if we drew we would probably go out to 4 or 5/1 to win the league. Tbh if we win id see it as a pure 50/50 although id imagine the odds would be about 1/2 or 4/7.

Looking at the fixture lists City more likely to pick up all the points. But, you're right. City have dropped points in unusual places this year. While we are on a great run, which will not continue for ever either (continuing for the next 8 league games would be awesome though! 😃)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Hopefully Atletico turn up in Manchester tonight at there most horrible best and just frustrate the hell out of Pep so that he has to go to Madrid next week having to win.

I really think the Champions League is Pep and City's priority ths season.

Manchester ref selected for the game Sunday FFS.

VAR is Paul Tierney who Klopp had a go at, after that game with Spurs where he failed to send off Kane & give Jota the penalty but did send off Robbo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,417 ✭✭✭.G.

Anthony Taylor as ref and Paul Tierney as VAR. I should be surprised but I'm not. Two refs from greater Manchester who shouldn't be anywhere near a game involving a team from Manchester but here we are. Shambles.

What does Michael Oliver have to do to get a big game these days. Move to Manchester maybe.
