Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lovely turn in the box from Williams to get out of danger and get the move for the goal going

1st player to score in 8 consecutive games v the same opposition in PL, now get the golden Boot for Mo

Such a typical Mane finish - falling, off-balance but slots it in. Fcuking hero.

Two of the CBS busted up.

We only need to get another 60 mins out of them and they can go back to bench warming till Joe and Virgil need a breather.

Salah needs a goal now to get back level with Kane.

Don't forget Rhys is only 19, he does look young walking off the pitch there!

Does 3rd vs 4th change anything for CL placement?

Just the prize money. About 2M in the difference usually.

    1-0 Villa

Jesus, we could need Jimmy Milner to come on twice.

Quick look at live table….we are third. After the disaster of this season, if it ends up with Liverpool in third, that’s an unbelievable end. Would never have guessed that a few weeks ago. I’d given up on fourth.

    Some goal too for Villa

Atrocious ball from Bobby wide there, under no pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Only Gini can receive a ball 5 feet from goal and lay it off 50 yards from goal.

    Rhys getting closer

Hodgson only got the job because no one else would go near it at the time, he was the best of a bad lot who were willing to take on the job, he was always just a short term appointment until the next manager came along, it just went a lot worse than anyone expected and relegation was a real possibility if he was given the full season. Dalglish came in and almost immediately turned things around. We were one of the better teams in the league in the second half of the season.
Hodgson's time is probably the nadir both on and off the field for the club absolutely desperate. He's a decent footballing man and by all accounts a gentleman, but, he was a disaster at Liverpool.

Sorry to distract from game but this is really not true at all.

Hodgson was flavour of the month at the time as he had gotten Fulham to a European final.
With Benitez leaving it was a just a poor and predictable choice by the poor owners and management of the club at the time and he was given a three year contract and was not a short term appointment.

His tenure was a disaster as you point out but he was not appointed as a stop gap and did not take the job as no one else would take it or go near it at the time.

Salah's first touch is so beautiful

Robbo had one absolute peach of a first touch on the run from a difficult ball as well about 10 minutes ago - nothing came of it, but the touch itself was just immaculate.

    Two takwaways so far.

    1. Where the fúck has this Mané been?
    2. Nobody try to tell me a crows doesn't impact performance.

:D same as, even with the other results going our way.
We look good though...would be some sting in the tail not to get the job done from here..can't see that happening

Good first half, should definitely have done more with the chances created.

Really hoping Mo gets his shooting boots on in the second half.

Decent performance, if the finishing was better we'd be out of sight. How we start the second half will be critical.

Playing well today, but need that extra cushion of another goal.

As far as I can recall, Gerrard really wanted a British manager at the time too, and was pushing for Hodgson.

We really weren't that much of a poisoned chalice at the time, it was only a year since we'd had a proper proper title challenge, and we'd literally just been in a Europa League Final weeks before. Were still plenty of world class players there, Masch, and Torres especially, even if both would be gone just a few months later.

The off-the-field stuff was just heating up at that point alright though, with Broughton having just been brought in (suitably enough with his name) a few months before to find new owners.

I'm sure he's been made aware Kane has overtaken him in the golden boot charts :)

I still fully expect both Chelsea and Leicester to win.

    Better keep our heads on.

Salah is playing really well. Just needs the goal now but for someone going for the golden boot, he's been quite unselfish.

Gini having one of his better games. Still should have taken that shot on though. He's playing higher in this game than normal.
