Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You're only picking on Elliott to reinforce your obsession with our midfield. Gomez and Fab were a lot more culpable for that goal.

Elliott and Ali the only ones I'd keep on for the second half.

    The rest are shockingly bad.

I’m more amazed how you pick every single player in the squad and refuse to see any bit of good they do, in any game.

At least the young lad is actually running out there and not jogging around like the rest of them. Yes he was poor for their goal but he’s firmly at the bottom of the list of players I’d be blaming for this performance.

Actually forgot Firmino was playing. Probably because he hasn't screwed up like the others. Just been anonimous instead.

Elliott playing well. The number of individual errors is off the scale. This fixture definitely spooks some of these players.

This squad needs a lot more than Jude Bellingham

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Fabinho has been a statue all game and you go in on Elliot to back up your preconceived bulls**t opinion of him...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Remember all those games we’d see in the past where the team just didn’t look right but Mane was the only player playing well and he’d often let us off the hook?

    Yeah.

Thiago needs to come on and get hold of the ball

    Game over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,710 ✭✭✭54and56

These boys look like they've lost their hunger and bite and whilst not exactly going through the motions are allowing themselves to be bullied almost every game this season and just not on the front foot or up for it.

Too settled a team leads to complacency and too many pushing on who have lost that young hungry aggressive streak.

It happens to a lot of successful teams but how many of them turn it around without major surgery?

    Trent and Gomez.

    Abysmal is being kind.

Win our home games, we'll be grand.

    They're not even running.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,111 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Gomez needs subbed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,144 ✭✭✭Augme

He strikes again. Shouldn't be on the pitch.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Another game another walking performance from Trent. Joe is shite but Trent is lazy. He was walking for a minute before that goal.

The bare minimum has to be to work your ass off. We are walking

For how **** we are, Napoli deserve credit. Gomez totally at fault for 2 goals. Simple defending.

TAA, guy breezes by him, he stands still, then Gomez gets his pants pulled down.

Firmino no effort in midfield, then Trent no effort to stop his man from going past him, Gomez beaten too easily and VVD no idea where his man is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 677 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Obviously Gomez was horrendous there but look at Trent once it's knocked past him. He just stands there then breaks into a slight walk. Pathetic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

VVD mind is in Qatar and not missing the World Cup through injury.

Where is his origination of the backline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

Milner needs to come off before he's sent off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

It’d actually be more practical to leave the stadium, city and country at half time and take the 3-0 forfeit. Couple of hours more rest ahead of Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Joe Gomez prefers to give away a goal than a throw in or a corner. Ffs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,524 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

    Mentality stinks. Absolutely stinks.

I’d usually put the kids to bed in a rush at half time, no rush tonight, desperate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 531 ✭✭✭Infoseeker1975

Easy to pick on Gomez but he is always so casual on the ball. It could easily be 5-0 so cannot complain. A minimum requirement in the summer was a RB who could challenge TAA and 2 midfielders in, not extending Milner and loan out Jones. At this rate the premium price we received in the past for some average players will be dented:)

Milner and Gomez, goodbye. For ever

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

He got No nonsense CB mixed up with No sense CB.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,439 ✭✭✭SM01

    This is fúcking hideous.

    Matip for Gomez

    Thiago/Arthur for Milner

    Nunez for Bobby

Edit: forgot about poor Diogo Jota. Perhaps in instead of Nunez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Darwin, Jota, Matip, Arthur and Thiago.

If ever there was a case for a quintuple sub.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,044 ✭✭✭steve_r

Disgraceful first half from a lot of players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Right now I'd go three at the back as TAA & Robbo are doing nothing.

Bring on Matip, Thiago & Arthur

Jota & Nunez for Bobby & Salah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

3 at fualt for the goal Gomez, Fab & Elliott

All of them in it together

The team is in a full blown crisis now. I can’t see how this is going to change anytime soon, too many liabilities in the squad now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,197 ✭✭✭McFly85

As bad a half of football as you’ll ever see from Liverpool. None of the players want to be out there, getting bullied and to be fair making life easy with some shocking defending.

The squad just looks stagnant. Salah has done nothing, Robertson is getting caught out and his forward play is wasteful, midfield has no legs, defence has no organisation. A long, long season ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,106 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Only been able to see about 25 mins of that, but it's about 25 mins too much. Horrific. Horrific.

Milner & Gomez 2 of the worst performances I've ever seen. For all the talk of Keita v Real Madrid and subbed off after 43 mins and Moreno in the EL final second half, Milner & Gomez have been worse from what I've seen tonight. Much much worse. But their English so won't get the flak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

It's not just bad form now

Its a proper crisis things can't be right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

A lot of them actually don't look fit.

The 63 games last season has taken it toll.

This will sound silly, but there are certain parts of the team that have been fine.

I think the front 3's energy has been good.

Trent's offensive stuff has been top notch.

    Alisson has been solid.

    We generally look dangerous.

But lads, the spine has gone. Fabinho is running in treacle, Milner is showing every one of his years and Elliot is a kid. Napoli's lads are doing what they want in there. And from there, the individual mistakes at the back have been utterly astonishing.

I honestly can't work out how Liverpool thought we didn't need reinforcements in midfield this summer. It's bordering on insanity. Milner starting is an indictment of our squad. We bring in Arthur last minute who maybe will work out but there's 'something rotten at the heart of Anfield'.

Whole team (apart from Allison and Elliot) looks devoid of energy, skill or even passion. Very worrying sign.

We keep getting these "wake up calls" but nothing changes. We'll be doing very well to finish top 4 this season.

Penalty saved, off the post and off the line. Could be six or seven.
