Guess what. I was thinking of going out around 4.30 PM. Just thought I will do a quick check on the portal. No text yet but saw this:

Vaccine type: Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine)
    Date: Saturday, 12 Jun 2021
    Time: 09:35 AM

I was hoping to get the J&J. So that I dont need to wait for another month for 2nd dose.

Not not sure what to do.
The lost 50's seem to all be in the same group. Just got my SMS too.

We definitely are! No text yet but checked the portal and an appointment is there for Fri 11 June in Aviva, Pfizer. I've only been waiting since 16th May.

Edit: Text has just come in.

A single dose of Pfizer is likely to be more effective than J&J anyway

Head in, try it, if it doesn’t work, take the Pfizer, j&j supplies seem patchy at the moment.

J&j was supposed to be in pharmacies this week but haven’t seen any updates on that.

Gavan Reilly just tweeted pharmacies to cover over 50s with j&j next week.

Are over 50’s not all vaccinated by now ??

I wonder if that's gonna be on a walk-in basis. IMO it should be.

Appears some over 50d not vaccinated if they are putting j&j in pharmacies.

    No idea of numbers.

Some may have been on hold to get J&J and it looks like the standard HSE approach to that group. Sure, they've been waiting for a while but it's one and done!

J&J in pharmacies was planned from a way back because of ease of management. Supplies and the NIAC position on J&J may have been at the heart of this decision.

Missed appointment last week and am having no no luck getting a new date. On the vaccine portal I'm back on it as awaiting appointment since last monday but my wife registered for her vaccine last wednesday and she has a date for next friday .
Anyone else miss an appointment and have trouble getting another?

It seems they are not strict in the MVCs about the time you show up, once the day is correct. Maybe you could go early in the morning before the queues build up. Good luck either way. Hope it goes smoothly.

My wife arrived an hour early to ucd today and was jabbed within 5 minutes of arriving. Although too much of that would cause massive issues I’d say

I had my first pfizer vaccine on Sat 15th May. Have no appointment for second yet which should be this Sat 12th June if 4 weeks is correct. Have logged onto vaccine hub to see no appointment scheduled yet.

Did other people get second dose 4 weeks later?

    Generally yes
I know people who got Pfizer on May 18th in Greystones who haven't heard
    They're due in 6 days
    But I wouldn't worry
The Pfizer advice is up to 6 weeks and of course for many in the UK it was 12 weeks
I would chase it up in your case as its very near
I'd ring the mvc itself and ask for the supervisor there

I wonder if that's gonna be on a walk-in basis. IMO it should be.

It'll primarily be appointment in most places. With so few over 50s left to do, and having to use the full vial within a few hours, it's going to be a nightmare for pharmacists to try and minimise waste.
Any walk ins will most likely be offered only if there happens to be doses left over

Two neighbours, both 57 getting the second Pfizer jab this Friday, exactly 28 days after the first, in Punchestown

Can't understand why the are opening portal next week for people in 30s when most people in 45-49 are still not done, never mind 40-45 year olds.

    It's just a publicity stunt.

They are flying through the early 40s. They still have to plan for next batch.

Aged 43 , registered last week , no sign of a text coming , logged onto the portal out of curiosity, my appointment was showing for Wednesday 16th June , I had to answer a few medical questions also online .

Appointment now fully confirmed on the portal , date time , location etc .

I assume all good to go ? Still no text though ?

    Thanks

I'm 42, registered a week ago, heard nothing yet, have checked the portal. I'm in the north west so expect to be sent to Sligo. Most people had a text within a week.
