Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

5 gone super start to the kerry game, fast, open, great skill on display, shooting is woeful though.

    And it's getting worse

1-01 v 0-06 Kerry lead at the water break.
About a dozen wides is truly awful with less than 20 gone.
Kerry playing well but the Dublin goal really showed up the Kerry defender, great patience in the lead up by the Dublin forwards.

Same problems in the Kerry defence shown up by the second Dublin goal.

The 2 goals have badly rattled Kerry. They were very comfortable.
    All at sea now.

Poor by the ref, advantage should have lead to a Kerry goal.

Galway must be very very poor ......

Kerry full back line in the horrors.
High ball into the square 10 minutes ago, easily won by Dublin, keeper saves well.
Repeat the high ball 10 minutes later, easily won again, 3rd Dublin goal.

Kerry and the media and hype, a real dampener on the GAA

Clifford seemed to get a lot of rope with the number of steps taken anyway with the ball under the arm.

Kerry can have no complaints here. Their defence is appalling. Second best in this game so far. Dubs comfortable passing the ball around them.

Ya, poor by ref, it was a blatant free out for over-carrying...!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,506 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

The new rule isn't as frustrating as in the hurling, but one simple way for people to get on board with it is if referees weren't so whistle-happy. I mean are their assessors really marking against them for allowing play to develop? Crazy

He over-carried. should have been a free out. no argument.!

Advantage rule is gone now I thought?

Right decision in that case. If a stupid one.

What was the thinking behind scraping the advantage rule? Its creating far to many stopages in play.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

4 in a row for Kerry making it more interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,166 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Kerry far and away the better team. How many points in a row unanswered is that for Kerry now? 7, 8? They seem content taking the points when there are goal chances.

Like every rule change, there was little thinking.

With the pressure Kerry are putting on Comerfords kickouts, it really drives home how bloody good at them Cluxton is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,256 ✭✭✭✭km79

Another aimless high ball in and it’s panic stations again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,156 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

And now the ref gives Dublin a pen.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Another high ball into the square, poor defending by O'Connor, clear foul, penalty scored.

    Correctly ?
The only debate was whether it was also a black

O'Callaghan, is he alright? His reaction looked like he had his neck broken or cheekbone smashed in.

Costello has taken four penalties in two games. Surely some sort of record?

    Penalty for Kerry !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,166 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Should have been a black card. Penalty scored. Sides are level. Into the last minute of injury time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,256 ✭✭✭✭km79

That’s as clear a black as you will see
Refs are their own worst enemies at times

Very poor second half from Dublin

Good use of the new rule exactly what it was brought in for even though I found it strange at the time.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Draw was a fair enough result. Kerry came back very well but their defence is just too easily opened up.

Dublin will be glad they did not lose having been in the position they were.

    Enjoyable game.

Right now looks like a winner takes all match between two evenly matched teams* in Tuam next week.

*Well they'll start with 15 each.

If not the penalty didn't use the new rule.

what position were dublin in.. that would them happier team????

id say Kerry will be the happier team tbh.... Dubs scored 4 goals and didnt win... when did that last happen??

Kerry should have won. They won't get a better chance of taking Dublin.

Dublin should have won... they scored 4 goals.. the kerry defending was comical stuff and for the last 10 mins the dubs were looking the very very likely winners.... Kerry extremely lucky to get a draw....

Kerry had there chance to take dublin in 19 drawn match.... didnt take it unfortunately

I'm guessing for Division 4 shield its

3rd place South Division vs 4th place North Division with the winner facing 3rd place North Division in the final

Jaysus lads. Somethings going to have to be done about this possession craic. Far to much holding onto the ball. I know it's the only tactic to beat the blanket defense but it's ruining the game as a spectacle.

Tis fairly putrid looking stuff alright. I dont mind teams doing it so much when their deliberately looking to work a chance, but the use of it to deliberately waste time is hard to watch. But as long as it keeps working, some teams will stick with it.

    Is it?

Bring back hit and hope eh?

I've never read so much crap in any sport where possession is seen as a bad thing.

I'd wager you don't likely know what you want in the sport.

Both Mayo and Meath into the division 2 semi finals. Westmeath could have conceivably won both their games but now they have a relegation semi final to look forward to.
Clare surprisingly with 2 wins from 2 in division 2 South.

Why don't teams push up rather than keeping 15 bodies the ball?

The way I see it, if you need a last minute penalty to equalise, then you are the ones with the problem, so Dublin won't be too worried.

I guess thats what the Dubs want them to do and open up their defence for a score.
Its not a great spectacle for the viewer. Not sure how teams can deal with it though. Kerry were two behind in the 68/69th minute if I remember correctly, but were allowing Dublin hold the ball for minutes on end with the result that they needed a goal which they were quite lucky to get and I doubt if they meet Dublin again, they would be gifted a last minute goal like that.
Teams will need to come up with some manner of a co-ordinated rush or something like that
