How on earth is Barry Cassidy still a "top level" referee? Some absolutely baffling decisions by him today with no consistency.

He should never have been let ref after the Ulster Final last year. Some atrocious decisions in it.

One thing you will get from David Gough is a strict application of the rules. I was listening to the game and he would seem to have had his hands full. One player 'spoke' to him after he had a free against him - black card. He's reffed a Semi final (and produced a red in it) and isnt going to take sh1t from players in a relegation game. Players should know better.+well done Monaghan (don't tell me Ma who is from Galway!!)

Ref in the Monaghan vs Galway game , absolutely riding Monaghan, useless, giving Galway everything.

Delighted for Monaghan, footballers beat the failing foulers and the ref... not blowing for obvious fouls on Monaghan players but blowing for every touch on a Galway man.
Sure the GAA did them a big enough favour handing them home advantage, can’t expect to get all the calls from the ref as well.

Galway absolutely shot themselves in the foot at the end of ET.

I thought there was a draw for home advantage? Hardly a favour.

    Not quite.

GAA decided whoever had less home games in the league would be awarded home advantage. The only reason they had no home games prior to this is because they broke the rules around training. Should have been neutral venue, same as Dublin v Donegal.

Had Michael Quirke done much in management before getting the Laois managers job? It hasn’t appeared to go well.

Monaghan only had 1 home game before losing that home advantage, whereas Galway had 2 home games. So they had less homes games regardless of any punishment, so still qualified to have this game at home going on the above criteria.

So it's hardly the "favour" you're making it out to be.

Wasn't a draw for Monaghan v Galway was draws for some other games.

    This is simply not true.

There was a draw where the two teams bot had played the same number of home games etc. ie Mayo and Clare both had 2 home games so tossed for the venue, Clare won. This didnt arise in Galway Monagahn case

Modern day football with one goalkeeper tackling another goalkeeper.

Don't know if I've ever seen that at intercounty level before.

prob the first and only time 2 provincial champions are both relegated to the lowest division of the League

Div 3 final this Saturday used as a test pilot event but what is going to be learnt by allowing just 3% of 82,000 capacity attend ?

    That game is woeful.

They must be watching the game on tv and wondering how things got to a state where that Offaly team are 2 divisions above them.

Very poor finishing from both sides today. Conor Glass in his MOTM acceptance speech twice mentioning playing Donegal in the Ulster championship, forgetting they’ve to play Down in the preliminary round.

Main thing to take out of that Div 3 final was the return of supporters in Croke Park. By the business end of this summers championship hopefully at least 25% of the capacity can attend.

I think 2,000 was a very low starting point in a 82,000 capacity stadium. They could have had 10,000 and everyone well distanced.

Shamrock Rovers had 1,000 at their home game in Tallaght 2 weeks ago. Their capacity is under 10,000.aaa

Is a lot of it not getting that many people to and from the ground? So it wouldn't really matter what the capacity was in that sense.

But they plan to have bigger crowds as the summer goes on. They couldn't gauge anything yesterday with those numbers. Maybe it's that most will be vaccinanted by September so they can bring up numbers gradually..
