Lovely chip in on 12 for birdie.

Now don’t mess up another par 5. Capitalise on the last birdie and your length on this par 5.

Hit the flag full toss with a 3 wood :O

Not sure if he is better off now where he is or where he would have ended up if he hadn’t hit the flag.

Trouble ahead now. Be lucky to get out with bogey.

That's a huge mistake, hopefully he can scramble a bogey

A big mistake.. This could end his challenge if he isn't careful

Ok no great damage done there

Very good bogey to be fair

And a great putt to save par on 16.

Nice to see a few little fist pumps. Not sure we’ve seen that at a major from Rory in a while.

Is the thread title not a bit stale? His last major was 7 years ago.

Top 10 in the world for 12 consecutive years, would that be more pallitable to you?

A birdie on 18 would be brilliant, set him up perfectly for Sunday

Maybe I am wrong but I always get the feeling when McGinley is commentating that he dislikes Rory?

That was some back 9 that dropped shot and they way he responded bodes well for tomorrow

Yeah he made a point of saying he was getting breaks. Don’t remember him getting too many lucky breaks today tbh.

He also said before the round he had no chance of winning.

I thought the same, even now it seemed strange

I think it goes back to when McGinley was hosting the Irish Open and McIlroy didn't show up.

Could he be in the final pairing for the 4th round?

If Mckenzie Hughes drops back and no one else gets to 4 under then it looks like he will

    Hughes beats him to it.

He is better off not being in the last group

Better off not playing with Dechambeau too. He'd wreck his head. Pairings after shaping up favourably for him

Yeah looking like Henley for him. Thought Louis would have been a better pairing, but anyone other than Bryson really.

I think it’s before that even, and have seen it suggested that’s the reason it’s the only Irish Open he’s skipped apart from last year due to Covid.
