Colonial said on Thursday that it would not comment on the issue.

I don't get the relevance to be honest.
Some organisations pay, and some don't.

The State have a policy of not paying a ransom and there's no leaks or information coming from anywhere to say that they did. Paying in this case is pointless.

you must be deluded beyond belief, anyone who thinks no ransom was paid is beyond help, do you seriously think hackers went to all that trouble and then just gave back an encryption key, jesus christ :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

They are trying to show 'good faith' by showing that it could be recovered and that it is them. The real threat is still there that's publishing all or selected data that they still have to sell.

There is no incentive to pay and the government have stated for the record that they have not and will not pay a ransom.

yes because they were paid a sum of money, but they are holding out for more, it's pretty obvious for all to see.

ah here we go another looper who calls peoplle conspiracy theorists when someones view doesnt suit their own narrative  so let me get this straight yeah, the hackers have given back an encryption key and latest reports suggest this is credible, so a ransom must have been paid in order to get this, if you think there wasnt there really is no hope at all for you, hackers dont give things back as a good gesture.

The hackers are probably holding out for more money so have threatened to upload files online.

Conspirary theorist indeed, jesus wept

You are claiming there is a conspiracy whereby the Irish government paid the ransom but have not told us?
Regardless of it being correct right now it is simply a theory which you cannot backup with any evidence or facts therefore it is a conspiracy theory making you a conspiracy theorist.

    It's not that difficult....

oh yes sorry you are correct, this government are great and have never done anything wrong at all, and certainly it would never be like a government to tell lies.

The key provided has flaws and bugs so not a full change of heart.

If you want to make that conclusion based on all available evidence, fair enough. But don't expect to be taken seriously.

you are probably one of these who believe absolutely everything they government say and take it as gospel, they never lie and never have, good lad.

yeah i had an account here 15 years ago and then didnt bother with this place for years, i can see why now, it's just gotten progressively worse and worse with over zealous modertors who dish out warnings like confetti for practically nothing, people who call others conspiracy theorists when someones views doesnt suit their own narrative, the long list goes on and on.

It's no wonder i only log on once or twice a week if even that thesedays.

No ransom paid coming from multiple sources - you really think if a ransom were paid there wouldn't have been a leak from somwhere on it??

Your views are based on absolutely NO evidence.

Very few believe the everything the arms of the state say (particularily in an online forum) but the evidence here is no ransom has changed hands.

good lad you believe everything you are told, of course hackers just done it for fun didnt they and gave back the encryption key as a gesture of goodwill like all hackers do:rolleyes:

Michael Martin and the government have never lied at all, they are genuine and trustworthy.

No, it's the equivalent of kidnapping someone and cutting off a finger to send to prove that you have the hostage.

All parties involved insist that no ransom has or will be paid by the Government, that no money has changed hands and that no agency, representative, or private individual, directly or by proxy has or will pay any ransom and that none will be paid and disguised in the fees paid to a commercial company.

There is absolutely no reason to disbelieve this.

You are just trolling at this stage with the language you are using.

The HSE, government and RTE have continued to mislead the public on this from day 1

The question should be why anyone would actually believe a word they are saying?
If anything the current government have been caught on a regular basis not telling the truth, what would suggest they are telling the truth now?

They sent back the finger only and a mutilated one. They still have the body.

Personally I think we went to our American friends and asked who would have the capability to push this, which resulted in someone in Russia getting a clip around the ear for bringing attention to themselves. Which is how we got the decryption key.

You're imagining that the Dept. of Health has a fancy operations room where all the lights went red and a big message flashed up saying "INTRUSION DETECTED", then someone typed furiously on a keyboard and all was well.

More likely someone in the DoE happened to stumble across something by pure chance and went, "Hmm, that's a bit weird, I'm going to shut this server down just in case". That's usually what happens. Or some application/system starts throwing errors and someone happens to be quick enough to spot it and turn it off.

There's a reason they tend to kick these things off in early hours.
