Soundbar HDMI not optical

I need to get a new soundbar as the little clip that holds the optical cable in my tv broke (tiniest little thing) and Bluetooth just not as reliable. Was looking at ones that support HDMI cable are they as reliable as optical?

Yes HDMI is fairly reliable.
If you are using apps on your TV for streaming then check that at least one of your TV's HDMI ports has ARC or even better eARC and the soundbar you buy supports the same.
