France has opened up Covid-19 vaccines to all adults, a week before Germany.

Until now, French authorities gave priority to people over 50, people in "priority professions" or younger adults with underlying health problems.
Given their still fairly large vaccine hesitancy rates it's a wise move.

Anyone know much about cohort 7 seems my GP is vaccinating anyone with a BMI over 30, I have a BMI of 30.6 but am very healthy but just about a stone over my ideal weight, I can run 20 to 30 km regularly, I was a bit surprised to hear that.

BMI is the bluntest of tools.
But if you are offered a vaccine may as well go forward and take it.

Not looking hard enough - 2 second Google search!

    https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/

That was a bit cheeky - I have been looking, it kept directing me to a HSE page, but not to any pre-print publications of any reported side effects.
Our equivalent of UK yellow card summary results.
I get as far as here ......

Yeah I know but when people say I can't find it....
Just click on any of the vaccines, Down the page is another link to side effects.
For example AZ -> "Read more about side effects after the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine" takes me here.

    https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/astrazeneca/side-effects/

Why do you need any more detail than that? It's what's in the leaflets they give out. Leaflets here.

I was after the published side effects that have been reported from vaccinated people - how many blood clots per vaccine, how many blood issues, nerve issues etc. The link takes me to known side effects, not how many have been reported and published in Ireland. Moderna - example numbers 72, Pfizer 93 AZ 84.

    * Why, should I not be interested in what's being published here so far here in Ireland?

Pfizer brought the fast-tracked Q4 doses to Belgium today. Which means they delivered - or will deliver - the extra doses here too :)

I think they can be forgiven for the 30k shortfall in the previous delivery! I'd love to know their european production capacity.

Does anyone think it’s possible we will see something like this happen here before the end of June?

Well, the leaflets tell you the rates of risk of the known side effects, 1 in 10, 1 in 100 etc. You seem to be looking for the very rare events. You could look at the CDC.

Nope, we'll follow the age only approach until we get to the last groups. Over 40s will all be registered by next Sunday and then we're into the 30s, maybe at the end of next week.

The 45-49 portal opened on 19th May. That is a gap of almost two weeks to the 40-44 opening. Given the sheer numbers of people in their thirties and forties, notwithstanding increase in supply, it will be surely be mid June at the earliest before 35-39 are invited to register. That is assuming they will stick to age based roll out for those under 40.

I can’t see people under 40 getting vaccinated until July. Colm Henry said this morning they will need rest of June and into July for those in their forties.

Most of that data came from the trials themselves, the very rare stuff has only emerged since we got into vaccinating millions. IT report here on our regulator from 20 May.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/health/irish-regulator-reports-less-than-five-serious-blood-clot-cases-after-astrazeneca-shots-1.4570851

    Reports are here.

The incidence of very rare events in Ireland will be zero or a very small number because we have a small population. Consequently they won't be accurate.

Just got a text to say my second AZ jab is waiting in the Aviva. I've to pick it up on Thursday. A week ahead of schedule!

Also heard from someone who's up on Wednesday, about 2 weeks ahead of the original extended 16 weeks.

Interesting snippet from the European Commission today that member states are free to allow people to travel on the EU digital green certificate having received only one vaccine dose.

Let's see what Ireland does on this one.

They should allow this for people who have had Covid, but not for those who have not.

I can register later this week. Does anyone know how Louth is getting on- i.e. still lagging behind? When you register do you provide an address/choose your local centre or how does it work (i.e. wondering if I can register for the helix instead as it's almost as convenient for me to go there).

    "
    To register online you need:

    a mobile phone number
    an email address
your PPS number – here's how to find your PPS number
your Eircode – you can find your Eircode here or you can enter your address in the registration system

If you do not have these things, call the COVID-19 helpline to register by phone instead."

    https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/user-guide/

You will be assigned a VC based on your Eircode, possibility of been assigned a one outside of your vicinity (due to supplies and demand on centers).

You don't get to pick the centre.

    WWWWWWHHHHHHHATTTTTTTT!!!!
That is awful. Does the Dr do the same for smokers and drinkers ???

That Dr needs to be reported. Lose weight yes, but to withhold medicine.... WOW!!

Can you get an early vaccine if you smoke or drink? Honest question.

Donnelly says this will happen from early June. I suspect J&J will be doled out in pharmacies. If you are over 40, you go in and give your informed consent there after speaking to the pharmacist. Makes sense.

Do you think J&J will be given to anyone younger than 40?
