Have no problem with shooting the wild/feral pigs but intensive pig farming is unquestionably cruel.

Left alone, they'd breed as feral pigs and eventually become indistinguishable from wild boar, and in the meantime, spread out and do the sort of damage this lad mentions.
Plenty of work has been done on this research in Europe, where wild boar are relatively common.
Iirc, within 4 generations or so, they'd be back to where nature started them.
The wild boar isn't all that deep beneath the surface.
