Tsitsipas will get nervous as the third set goes on this will offer Djokovic a way back, all Djokovic needs is to hold on and wait for the nerves to kick in, once he gets a toe hold into the match he'll come back strong, but, definitely up against it now, but, wouldn't count him out just yet.

This would take the miracle of all miracles. Tsitsipas just has to keep his focus because his opponent has left the court

The problem for Novak is that he needs the next 3 sets and to keep going for another 2-3 hours. I can see him winning this set, but fatigue will become too difficult an opponent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,996 ✭✭✭Slashermcguirk

He cant even return serve which tells you everything you need to know

what a competitor though even if he's still a massive underdog

huge game to win after Tsits showed amazing defence and resolve for 3 or 4 bps

This set is gone for Tsitsipas, Djokovic getting on top now, Tsitsipas if he gets the opportunity to close out the match in the fourth set will get very nervous, giving Djokovic the opportunity to come back, all Djokovic needs to do is stay with him for the fourth set and use his experience in the big points. A long way to go yet in this match

At least Tsits is getting a real test here

Mould the future by facing the greats - so important

    How real champions are made

Kudos to Novak for not throwing in the towel. When those breaks points were coming and going at 3-2, he could have just thought this just ain't happening today. Stuck at it, gotta make tsitsipas really fight for it

You can be sure he'll make Tsitsipas earn it, just hope we don't see Tsitsipas wilt once the real pressure comes on in set 4 and 5

Well played from ST. Great point.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,996 ✭✭✭Slashermcguirk

Credit where it's due, showed heart of a lion there. Many players would have let their head drop when tsitsipas saved so many break points.

Still very much up against it but at least he is making him fight for it

A glimmer for Djokovic, pity he couldn't get the double break for the set 6/2 so he'd be serving first in the 4th ... but let's see....

    Still Tsitsipas overwhelming favourite..

    What a player.

    4th game 3rd set -

4 break points saved in brilliant fashion with winners by ST -> "I'll take it to you again"

Tsits gone off for a strategy shyte

If ND did it there would be uproar :D

I see Tsitsipas taking an injury timeout, if Djokovic did it there would be uproar...

I'd make Djokovic favourite now, all that experience, he's been in similar situations over the years against tougher more experienced opponents and won out, this is all new for Tsitsipas and will be extremely difficult for him to close out this match. Tsitsipas best chance is to get it done in this set, if it goes to a fifth Djokovic will be the overwhelming favourite

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Tsitsipas lose the plot here a la Friday. Unfortunately for him I doubt Djokovic would let him get away with it like Zverev did.

This quality of competitor just has never been seen in tennis before him.

truly amazing is the only way to describe it

    Is it ?;)

nobody deliberately loses games and sets in tennis unless they are fixing a match.

    seriously

    would you please stop

Anyone know what price you'd have got on Djokovic when he was down 2 zip?

consolidates the break !! come on !!

This fightback was always on the cards.

A real test for ST. If he wants to win his first GS, he is going to have to dig real deep.

There's another up to 1.5 sets to go.

    It's not over.

Wading through all the blanket predictions gets really tiresome.

Have to say it again - the WTA getting the same prize money at slams is the biggest act of charity in commercial sports.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,901 ✭✭✭Girly Gal

Only one winner now, Tsitsipas is mentally gone, can't see a way back for him, fair play to Djokovic for finding a way back into this match, tbh never really doubted him. Djokovic was there for the taking today, but, Tsitsipas let him off the hook and once Djokovic got a toe hold in the match his greater experience was likely to win out

it's not a total done deal

it's winner takes all in the championship set

That sounds like far right conspiracy talk ?

Tsitsipas can still easily win this, he did it against Zverev the other day and was 2-0 up on him...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,757 ✭✭✭sxt

Djokovics rejuvenation from looking very heavy footed after two sets is remarkable. I'm going to buy a three pack of those Lacoste undies

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,553 ✭✭✭murphyebass

Another slam for ND comin up. The Nadal and Federer fan boys won’t like it but it’s absolutely inevitable that ND will over take them both and be without question the goat. The stats will back him up.

    Huge hold by Tsits

That hold could be huge ... would not surprise me if Djokovic was broken here...
