    Hi Guys,

I was in touch recently about a Sonos Sub to add to my Beam but I'm now toying with the idea of going all out and buying a Sonos ARC, however i have a query related to compatibility issues with this soundbar and my TV.

I bought a Panasonic OLED TX65FZ802B from Richer Sounds a couple of years ago and currently have it combined with a Sonos Beam which works great. However i'm looking for advice to confirm if the ARC would work correctly with this TV as info online is very scarce.

I know that this TV only has HDMI ARC and not HDMI eARC and I've read that the Sonos ARC combined with this TV will provide Dolby Digital Plus only, which is a much lower version of Atmos. I've also read some people having Lip Sync issues with Sky Q which would be a worry. So basically I'm looking for advice if i would still get a great Atmos response from this when using services like Netflix, Prime, Disney + and Apple TV?

    Regards

    Hi Hendickp,

    Thanks for the post!

To get a full Dolby Atmos soundtrack through HDMI you would need to have eARC which is capable of carrying the full bandwidth. If your TV doesn't have eARC it will still play Dolby Digital but it will not carry Atmos through ARC.

I think there is a way to adjust the frame rate on a SkyQ box if you do get lip sync issues but I don;t use this system myself so I'm not 100% sure!

Let me know what you think!

    Kind regards

    David

    Hi David,

Many thanks for getting back to me so soon.

Some info online states that if your TV supports Dolby Digital Plus then you would get a compressed version of Atmos but If it’s a case that the TV I have will not give me any Atmos at all, even a compressed version of it then it makes no sense to even consider it cause I have no plans to upgrade my TV just for eArc.

Many thanks for the information. Really appreciate it.

    Hi Hendrickp,

Thanks for getting back to me!

From what I can see Dolby Digital Plus supports up to 7.1 channels rather than 5.1 but it would still not be able to carry a full Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

Let me know if you have any further queries!

    Kind regards

    David
