    Thanks for all the kind condolences and bursts of song :pac::pac::pac:

    I have to replace it though as my electric spice grinder does not cut the mustard :eek: when grinding poppy seeds to a paste for my Butter Chicken Curry.

    Well if you'll settle for marble rather than granite, and you're in Dublin, IKEA have one for only €11. We've had one for a few years and it does the job nicely.

    Superglue is a brittle sort of glue. If you are pressing directly down it should hold up well, but if you are doing a lot of rocking motion under force it will give way.

    It has a nasty rough looking break, which is a good thing for glue!

    It still has some length on the bottom bit. Another option would be to get some wood as a handle, of a thicker diameter, and drill into it and then glue the end bit into the wooden handle. If you can drill precisely it could be a friction fit.
