Maybe try watching Kessie in more than one game before you judge him. Chamberlain looked way better than a bang average Mane yesterday but it doesn't make it true

In general Serie A is about where it should be in the coefficient rankings. None of em gonna win it but should be better than everyone outside the PL, La Liga and a few of the mega rich clubs

Reminds me of PL fans who were not sure "if De Gea would make it in the big leagues" as if he had come out of the youth teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I have to say iv watched Kessie a few time and in Seria A & thought he was great , because of his energy & intensity but the two Liverpool games he looked completely out of his depth ,

To be fair wasn't De Gea only 20 & had one full season when he went to United's so he was straight out of the Madrid youth team

    14/09/21 UCL Barcelona 0 - 3 Bayern Munich

    14/08/20 UCL Barcelona 2 - 8 Bayern Munich

    12/05/15 UCL Bayern Munich 3 - 2 Barcelona

    06/05/15 UCL Barcelona 3 - 0 Bayern Munich

    24/07/13 CLF Bayern Munich 2 - 0 Barcelona

    01/05/13 UCL Barcelona 0 - 3 Bayern Munich

    23/04/13 UCL Bayern Munich 4 - 0 Barcelona

Bayern Munich have won the last 7 games, on an aggregate score of 26-4.

They are coming off the back of a (lucky) win in Der Klassiker, while Barcelona lost in La Liga last weekend.

I think we can call this.

De Gea was just one example of the ignorance you often see from PL fans.

Milan in general looked very nervous against Liverpool. I thought Keisse and Tonali were really trying to force it too much and Diaz the same. If there is an overrated player it's Hernandez who looks amazing against smaller teams but headless against better ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,123 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

And wasn't the only big Barca win ironically when Pep was trying to get Munich to play tiki taka

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I don't get the De Gea thing he was young and people worried that he would struggle with crosses and corners & he did struggle in the first year or so, to be fair he still does not command his box , Unreal shot stopper though ,

That was a second string Liverpool bar Mane & Mo and even at that Phillips , Morton or Taki wouldn't have started if the normal second string lads where fit ,

Guys like Gomez,Milner, Keita ,Elliot, Jones, Firmino ( jota is first choice) are all outside Liverpool's first 11 and couldn't start for various reasons ,

    it was terrible from AC

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,123 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

It was practically a second string Milan too. 5 starters out and their biggest problem for a good few years now is depth in the squad. It seems to catch them late on in every season and they didn't have a single forward on the bench.

The young lads for Liverpool looked pretty good especially compared to youngsters like Tonali and Tomori who looked completely overwhelmed by the occasion.

Bad few minutes for Chelsea, from a goal up to a goal down and could have been worse.

Disappointing Munich vs. Barca isn't the game on Irish tv.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭fyfe79

Is the Bayern game on any channel? Can't see it on BT, unless they're switching to it after the early kick-offs finish...

Watching Utd's reserves against the Young fella's in a dead rubber isn't appealing.

Interesting non-offside call in the Chelsea game there for Timo... to the naked eye, he looked more off than Richarlison did for his second on Monday. (I want to see all these iffy ones given, but by the present judging standards, he looked a hair off)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

It's on BT Sport 3 from 7:45 (after the Chelsea game).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Ooh that's a great equalizer for Zenit! Cracking strike! Looks like 2nd spot for Chelsea. Very tough proposition for some group winner out there.

Feck, Bayern game's behind closed doors. Not sure that'll be a fun watch after enduring it for all of last season.

Fully deserved draw. Chelsea could get a nastier draw as a result.

You can watch any game on a pc also from the livescore website so you dont need the app

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

This seems like the absolute ideal night for AC Jimbo and the Goals Show to cover it all.

Funny comment from him there a minute ago on Utd's young bench "one of them doesn't even have a wikipedia page!"

Some amount of snow in Bergamo. Match delayed to 8:20pm.

Busquets lucky not to walk after 2 mins.

Is Munich back under Covid lockdown or was there some crowd trouble?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Yeah, it's a Covid precaution, after a surge in cases there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Unreal finish from Greenwood. He really is such a natural finisher.

Fabulous break from Lille as well - love a good break from the opposing team having a corner!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Atalanta game postponed - just too much snow.

Good thing that the other match doesn't change things with it really... regardless what happens elsewhere it's just 'winner goes through'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Was keen to see that Atalanta/Villarreal game so hopefully they air it when it's rescheduled. A lot riding on that.

Benfica have taken the lead through Yaremchuk.

2-0 Benfica now, so it looks like Barca are going to have to win.

barce on the way out as things stand. wonder how much of a financial hit that will be if they end in the europa league

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,044 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

True, but they will also be a tough tie for one of those that topped their group.

  • Registered Users Posts: 710 ✭✭✭TefalBrain

For christ sake get in the door from work to catch the Barcelona game and they are showing the United game that's a dead rubber 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Muller gives Bayern the lead. Barca heading into the Europa League.

    Fine strike for Young Boys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

2-0 Bayern via Sane's strike. Think Ter Stegen should do much better with that.

    Rocket by Sané....keep them coming.

Always great to see Barca get a hiding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,793 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Mad to see how badly Barca have declined, they can't get near the ball when out of possession and can't keep it when they have it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Sevilla heading into the Europa too as it stands. Losing 1-0 at Salzburg.

    Musiala makes it 3-0 Bayern.

Bayern 3 up now, only a question of how many they want.

    United are hanging on.

Barca remind me of when Arsenal would come up against Bayern. A lot of hope but no real expectation.

Must be the worse Barca team in my living memory

Love Munich and Chelsea to draw each other in the next round.

Flicking on BT just so I can hear Robbie Savage commentating on his son about to come on for Man Utd. Some buzz there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Lille 3-0 up at Wolfsburg and topping the group. Salzburg currently joining them in second place. Sevilla 1-0 down and a man down and heading into the Europa. Don't think many would have predicted the way that group is turning out.

PSG can't meet another French side in the next round, isn't that right? Looks like their potential opponents are Liverpool, Ajax, Madrid, Bayern, Man United or Juve.

Very unfair on the lad to be fair. A big day for him and his family, but hyping it up as this human interest story is adding more pressure on the kid. Plenty of sons of old pros around, it's vaguely interesting who they are but little more.

(apologies if I'm an old cormudgen)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I dunno, seemed quite nice to me, given that its his Dad doing commentary.
