Budget is for box without monitor and keyboard - I'll sort those out

16 or 32 G RAM and a 1tb M.2 with lots of spare slots for more

need it to be very quiet and be able to play most recent games

Diving back into this world after 7 years with a gaming laptop it looks like component availability is brutal again - is it better buying off the shelf build with a GPU in it

    TIA

I'm a builder but I went with a pre-built for the first time because of availability issues and it turns out close to the same price or better.

This build is configurable. You can change motherboard and RAM capacity to save money if you want to go Nvidia or better card. My build would be similar to this just with a 3070 and slower RAM speed and CPU. This is just something I slapped together so it could definitely be refined FYI. Could also drop W10 to save about a 100 quid if you know how to handle that.

All from https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ 's custom extreme AMD builder.
