    Hi Folks,
I am looking for recommendations around west coast of Ireland to head away for 4-5 days to get in some running, where can base ourselves to get in 4 different scenic trail runs or even run a loop between towns over those few days.
    Suggestions welcome

I'm from Sligo so I'll recommend it as a destination.

For trails around here you should head to union wood. It's much longer that the loop shown below. You'll run 10 miles easily there if you want.

Hazelwood is a nice place for a recovery run. Nice and flat but maybe 2 or 3 loops

A bit more hard core head to Knocknarea you can add in a bit of a costal trail at Strandhill too to make it longer. Again the map below doesn't show the full Strandhill loop

Not trail but a quite road. Head to Gleniff Horse shoe for a very scenic run. But try and do it on a good day to really appreciate the views.

The the Sligo way is a great route too. Particularly from Colooney to Dromahair. You'll go through Union wood which I already mentioned if you start from Collooney.

There's plenty more routes throughout the country. That Sligo walks sites gives you the gist of them. But some very scenic quite roads too if you don't want to be on the the trails all the time. To be honest your spoiled for choice on the west coast. Donegal is fantastic, so is Mayo and Kerry

    I'd recommend Kerry.

The Kerry Way alone can keep you busy for a week of running.

Other fantastic trail options close by would be on the Dingle Peninsula, or the mountains around Killarney, like Mangerton or Torc.

The trails west of Dingle out towards Slea Head are ideal. Follow Shane Finn on insta to see some of the routes and also look up the Dingle marathon route, its a good run that can be broken into parts

Going to put my spoke in for Fanore in County Clare. Beautiful beach, nice hills and some great trails over and around the Burren.

I usually have a look at the global Strava heatmap for ideas before I'm out on hols anywhere to plan for runs, might be worth a shot?
