Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dublin Picture Game 3.0

We haven't done one of these in a while.

"Here's the rules, a poster posts a picture of Dublin, people guess until someone is right. The winner either posts a picture or forfeits and somebody else steps up and posts a picture.

You have to take the picture yourself (basically, don't take from websites). If it's a neighbourhood picture, take a picture that people can reasonably guess at. Not some back alley or some generic house. And make sure the picture takes in quite a bit (i.e. not a close-up of a bench or something) People just have to guess the neighbourhood, but for a city picture the winner has to name the street."

Yep, it is. Always liked that view of the small residential street with St. Patrick's towering in the background.

Perfect - I'll post something in a while or if somebody has one ready to go, fire ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,025 ✭✭✭✭GBX

    Marley Park?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,312 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

No. Way smaller. Ok, it's obscure enough, so I'll give a landmark. Nearest pub is the dropping well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,025 ✭✭✭✭GBX

And its a distinguishable landmark/recognisable place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,494 ✭✭✭francois

    Dartry Park?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,312 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

Ok, I though the distinct framing of 3 rock might give it away but it might be too obscure. It's down Patrick Doyle Road from the windy arbor playground near the 9 arches

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 11,920 Mod ✭✭✭✭BeerNut

    Playground, eh? Which one's this?

Here, how about this? It's the back of a building rather than the streetview but accessible to the public. If hints are needed I can give some :)

The back of Newman House, St. Stephen's Green South from either the garden or the Iveagh Gardens.

It is, now the home of MoLI (Museum of Literature Ireland). It was taken from the garden outside and it is accessible from Iveagh Gardens afaik. That was taken a few days before they officially opened in 2019, there's a cafe at the back with a few tables out in that space (at least there was before covid). A nice, hopefully lesser known spot for a coffee in the sun :)

When you post with the attachment you can then copy the link of the attachment, edit the post, click Insert Image and use that link as the address.

I was thinking the convention centre, but I think the back wall is stone clad. The 3 Arena doesn't look right. It has a hint of a car park about it.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 27,271 CMod ✭✭✭✭spurious

Car park was what I thought too.
