He's pretty bad, he provides zero insight.

One of the main reasons I can't warm to Lewandowski. He's always pretending and looking for stuff, great and all a player that he is.

A bittersweet day really lads. Today was the last of the football overkill days with games at 2, 5 and 8.

Normally i'd be up for an international tournament but this.....nah

quarter full stadia no atmosphere, nah ...couldn't care less

and another thing it was a big mistake to increase it to 24 teams it dilutes the quality, a 16 team tournament was much better, 3 teams qualifying from a group of 4 is a joke

I'd have originally thought this but Hungary, Scotland and Slovakia have shown that they aren't just making up the numbers to be fair.

Commentator said yesterday their draw against France was their greatest result. Does he know how good they were in the 50s and 60s?

I agree with what you're saying to an extent. Having only partially full stadiums and the tournament scattered all over the place does undoubtedly kill off a big element of what makes an International tournament memorable.

Likewise, I'm not a fan of three out of four making it out of 2/3rds of the group. So 71% of the games only eliminate 33% of the teams. And there's going to be a fair few dead rubbers now in this round of fixtures, matches where both teams need a draw - or not even that - to progress.

Having said all that though, I have been really enjoying the tournament. Sure, the stadiums aren't full, but it still feels more involving and meaningful in comparison to the domestic and European season just gone, which seemed to go on forever, but in an entirely airless fashion. That's what I'm comparing the tournament to really and it feels much more riveting and crucial than that, by a distance.

The quality argument is one that I've made myself, but, honestly, the standard has so far been great - a huge improvement over 2016.The only game I've watched that I thought was genuinely bad was Croatia vs The Czechs.

Italy to win easily today for me, think we are looking at the eventual champions.

Another thing with it scattered around is you want a sense of a specific place, and it’s people that has been diluted - nobody can be on location either can you remember what it felt like to lounge around on the cocacabana beach admiring the scenery? They really took us there.

Yes it's also worrying that if Ireland had qualified we would easily have been the worst team. Even North Macedonia can play a bit of ball. Scotland and Wales are so far ahead of us.

Well I’m looking forward to this, how keen are Wales for top spot?

The potential to be as highly as strung Gareth Bale’s top knot.

Italy have made 8 changes... a draw would suit both teams, although the step-in Italian guys might be looking to impress and make a claim for a starting place.

The Italian bench will have relayed events to the welsh players?

Ray Haughton comments highlight why Ireland have not got the attitude to be a good footballing nation. "The free kick wasn't great, it was too low" "deflection"

It was a fantastic free kick that was obviously practised in the training ground.

A solitary goal would be a victory of sorts for this Turkish side.

I hope Wales go out but they look dangerous when they go forward, still in with a chance as long as Italy don't score again

If they had called the Groups 1 to 6 instead of A to F, you probably would have worked out the mechanism for getting 16 teams.
