Quality is high in this game.

Oooh that looked nasty for the poor lad!!! right down on the face!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,700 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

I think that was the most literal example of throwing yourself at it that I've ever seen.

    Schumacher battison repeat

Dreadful attempt there by the German... failed to ko the defender or put the ball in the net.
McAteer would have buried the ball into the net and the player along with it.

That was brutal. Thought I heard on Off The Ball he only got a yellow card for that.

Is Loew aware that he can make a substitution?

Very strange from Rudiger. Dídi really doesn't want to accuse him of biting: "ahh, what are the actual rules..."

Didn’t want to accuse the other bloke of following through with a kick to yer mans face either when it looked fair deliberate to me….get off the fence Didi…this was the home of Dunphy,we need someone to take the shackles off in commentary..

The way I see it we saw great goal and the match is still poised!

Probably. It was a more leg breaking game back then. Leeds United .......

Didn't think it was a yellow for the first one either.

Yeah, a clear boot to the face, but, to be fair, he was being fouled fairly roughly and probably thought, fck it, I'll get away with this.

    Loew back finger sniffing.

    Old habits.

    The sprint on him.

    You are correct.

The game restarted with a goal kick.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, probably the most infamous foul in football. It's still brutal to watch

    Griezmann tackling like a ferret.

Linesmen appear to be incapable of flagging for offside now... relying on VAR while they daydream.

    Kroos howitzer incoming.

    Edit: Okay forget that.

Even Benzema putting in a shift. Definitely a Deschamp team.

I suppose though they're in a no lose situation by keeping the flag down. You favour the attacking team and if someone is offside the decision can be chalked off, but, if you incorrectly flag when someone is onside... well that's worse.

Aye, Keane was saying Deschamp has them playing like a club team. Will be hard to bet.

Passing from Germany has left a lot to be desired at times.

Ronnie convinced the Germans did enough to garner a point. Maybe, but I'm not sure. I thought they had a lot of the ball without doing a whole lot and France worked hard and should have scored a few more on the break, they also looked like they had another gear in them if necessary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,700 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

Pavard was absolutely knocked clean out there. It's mad that he was allowed to continue.

Richie Sadler apoplectic about spraying water on a guy's head as treatment for concussion. Ronnie referred to footage of the treatment in real time as "the good old days."

That's the first round over now of games. For me everyone has lived up to their billing, England, France, Portugal, Italy who were all hyped are all looking great. I am worried now that England look quite calm and composed and could go on to win it, but we'll see how they do in the next round against a good team from the group of death.

Edit: Forgot about Belgium, they looked great too.

This delayed offside flag rule is a pain in the hoop.

I think a steady; controlled approach from Russia should grind the fins down

-if they go russian into it they’re finnished.

    Beautiful goal there for Russia.

No backlift. Sweet as a nut.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,674 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

Thought Russia would have gone the same route as Hungary and rammed the stadium with fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,707 ✭✭✭Bobblehats

Was the early breakthrough from Finland even offside?

Not in my crazy world. Where such matters are decided by the feet; up to the knee at most. Only part of the body that can advance you

Scrap that his knee was offside

Just set the tone, get the ball to the creative players and try and win the game.

    Well taken goal for Cymru!

Brilliant chest control from Ramsey to take that ball down.

He didn't look composed at all before he took it.

    Madcap game.

    Right in the balls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,153 ✭✭✭✭EmmetSpiceland

Have they changed the ball, like they did in France 98? Bale ballooned that one over and in the Finland Russia game the lads couldn’t keep it down either.
