Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2 fouls in quick succession that the referee failed to penalize. The BBC commentators showing clear bias, saying they weren't fouls and the referee was great.
RTE is great for these matches!

They need someone like Grealish looking for the ball, trying to create.

Ha hot in before I could ninja edit my phone (predictive) message. Streaming onto my tv so typing with my thumbs.

England definitely not pressing as much as things go on.

Yes, getting it harder to get up the pitch now and Croatia are starting to progress the ball more.

Cracking match so far. England look fantastic, and I’d forgotten how much fans add to the occasion. Also apparent to me that Ireland have no business being at this tournament unfortunately.

I really don't see what you're seeing to be honest and there's a along way to go.

Also, what are you talking about Ireland for, they didn't qualify thus renders your point completely moot.

Still better than listening to Kenny Cunningham.
Can deal with that over a whole 90m of the other. He doesn't talk that much anyway!

Not good enough for me. There's a difference between being biased and just failing to report the truth.

I can just never watch British media with international tournaments especially with England games.
Bland , biased and no proper insight at all.

Well I watch US and Aussie Sports and this is tame by their standards. And failing to report the truth? This is sport, always difference of opinion.

    Smalling
    Tomori

    Mee
    Tarkowski
    Konsa

First 10-15 minutes England looked quite lively. Croations have come into it since, especially in midfield, and England look somewhat lost now.

    Pickford's distribution is terrible.

Well that's poor coverage then. They should be able to call what actually happened in a game.

Yeah that’s why I said so far. Talking about ireland because as a fan they are generally on my mind, just like fans sometimes discuss club matters on international threads.

Most Villa fans would probably pick Konsa ahead of Mings. Mings is a better leader at the back though but really is lucky that a)Southgate likes a lefty back there and b)tbh as much as you could argue some of them are potentially better CB overall is England’s weak area.

My man Fidel is England’s biggest threat so far. Kane not very involved surprisingly

England's defense is a right shambles, these lads greater favourites than France would make you laugh

I'd say he'll bring on Kane in the second half

Game going to sleep after a lively opening.

Both sides would take a draw you suspect.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Poor game lads.
A half of two halves! It was lively enough for the first 20 minutes. Remember it's 27C there.

Best chance for England is from set pieces.

Walker having a stinker so far. He's been so poor in possession....
Again...the croat LB getting in...Foden not tracking any of his runs.

Sterling is so used to EPL referees, is just looking for ANY contact at all, trying to generate a penalty.

Croatians not really exerting themselves at all. I wonder are they hoping for England to tire in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

There needs to be a bit more focus on the Croatian lovely girls in the crowd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,591 ✭✭✭brevity

    Is Ward Prowse on?

If a genuine question, he’s not in the squad anymore.

Shaw on for Walker wouldn’t be terrible if he doesn’t up his game but I feel Southgate wouldn’t call out his performance like that.

Half time - still feel this could be set up for super sub Grealish

Impressive first 15 followed by 30 minutes of fairly bland football.

Croatia be happy with that. Could have been two down in the first 15mins. Gained more control after that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,968 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That half of football for England is what you'd expect from a talented squad with a very limited coach.
Who was England's best player? Mings maybe or Kalvin Phillips?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Looked like there was only one side in this in the opening ten minutes but credit to Croatia for weathering the early pressure and growing into the game. Walker has been a let-down at RB.

Could be a clever ploy, they expected England will be fast out of the traps to impress, but they’ll burn out in the heat, then last half hour Croats will turn it on.
