Does anyone know if it's worth paying the extra on top of the free PRSI test to get the OCT test done?

All depend, usually offered for free to people with diabetes or high blood sugar.

It is useful for detecting early signs of eye disease so is especially useful if you have a family history of glaucoma. Even if you dont have any issues now it helps form a baseline so any changes will be apparent later on when compared to earlier images.

I paid the 20 extra in Specsavers.

Very detailed images of the optic nerve and the retina.

Images are stored, and can be compared later.

I am happy to pay the 20 for reassurance.
