But Biden knew there was a possibility of the next aid package being held up, he could have used lend lease before it expired, he choose not to.

He also has the power to give Ukraine surplus/obstacle stock, he's choosing not to.

    Where there's a will, there's a way.

Oil is always near the root of the problem. Isn’t that what fucked hitler, pushing to take the oilfields in the caucuses.

    The signs aren’t good.

Ukraine have done remarkably well considering their military capabilities but there is only so much they can do against a much bigger and powerful nuclear country.

They are been abandoned and in a way I hope the war arrives on the doorstep of all the cowardly leaders who have appeased Putin the whole way through.

on the day the US tells Ukraine to stop hitting russian energy infrastructure Ukraine suffers a heavy strike after only shooting down half of the missiles/drones fired at them and almost none of the ballistic missiles.

I am blaming Europe, not the US. The US could never be trusted - how can we not know that by now?! Half the country supports one of the most hideous humans on the planet and we are suppose to trust them?!

Once Mike Johnson was appointed it was clear what was going to happen, yet Europe sat and twiddled it's thumbs. Macron is now starting to panic as the writing is on the wall. Of course he will do literally nothing except talk big with no action.

As for the US getting annoyed about Ukraine hitting oil facilities... I did speculate on this thread that the timing might not have been a coincidence.

Related to US telling Ukraine stop bombing russia .. this

the last part I have been saying. Prepare for milliins more ukraine refugees. What we have had to date is a drop in the bucket. Also same from other states like moldova etc once putin defeats ukraine

Would you believe that? Less oil coming out of Russia is good for the USA who will jump in to fill the gap. Just like they started doing when Nord Stream was blown and the sanctions started by shipping LNG across the Atlantic. Plus isn't there a cap on oil prices paid to Russia, and the "sanctions" where countries aren't supposed to be buying it

  • Registered Users Posts: 797 ✭✭✭eoinbn

Nonsense. If there is 1 thing that Biden does not want in an election year is rising oil prices.

Maybe Macron can lead a coalition of European forces into Ukraine ? ….. kind of wish Boris was still around…. I think he be more pro active in dealing with putin

They should bomb the railway in Kursk. That would knock out a lot of logistics for the whole country.

    Really? Europe twiddled its thumbs?

"The European Union has given, on average, over $710 million (€650 million) per year to the country since 2014—almost twice as much as the United States average. The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development has given a similar amount..."

"Some of this military assistance has come through the European Deterrence Initiative (EDI) for support to the military and national security forces, which includes intelligence support, training and logistics support, and equipment (e.g., C2 systems; situational awareness systems; secure communications; military mobility; night vision; military medical treatment; maritime and border security operations; and defensive weapons systems). As of 2017, military assistance (outside of EDI) also includes the provision of lethal aid for defensive purposes, including the sale of U.S.-made Javelin antitank missiles and launchers to Ukraine."

    Thats all pre 2019.

This war is only going one way as many analysts have been saying for a while now. The west either stops acting the boll ox and actually backs Ukraine to the full or they are going to lose territory in an eventual negotiation or worse Russia starts gaining more ground in a move towards Kyiv.

Russian missile hitting the Dam that Stalin blew up. 2023 and Ukrainian can only cover less than half the frontline from ballistic missiles.

And Germany won't send Taurus the **** Nazis. It's mad how they were defeated in WW2 never to have an army again and 80 years later they're hindering a war effort in Europe. Madness.

Oh our man from the Baltics (am I right, pierre?) got rightly pixxed off with the ruzzian troll and let him have a piece of his mind, fair play!

Those boxing pics of Manu are pathetic. Just like the time he was cosplaying Zelensky for the camera a couple of years ago. He’s all about projection and grandstanding.

It must be utterly demoralising for the brave Ukrainians on the front line to see this unfold. They are fighting with one hand tied behind their backs begging for more supplies which aren't coming. It's beyond despicable.

Also the war seem to be falling off the front pages of late which isn't a good sign. The hit on the dam is only the 6th story on sky news for example behind a row about England rugby shirts latest design.

Also now being reported on Reuters that Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov has declared it is now in a state of war for the first time.

The man who put the son of a Russian spy into the House of Lords?

Johnson liked the publicity and the imagery around helping Ukraine. His incompetence and ineffectiveness would always get in the way of actually accomplishing anything.

There's a war on, and military service is required. Anyone not prepared to fight and protect their Countries peace and security, deserves neither peace or security. Do a little research about Putins conscription methods, and the age old Russian military tradition of Dedovschina.. something that does not exist in the Ukrainian army.

The special forces hoodie incident did come to mind. Time will tell if it's all bluster.

I agree Boris incompetent, he is also corrupt…. But he is also reckless and I think he might put troops into Ukraine to live out his Churchill fantasy

I have my theories about sky ?ews.

They are disproportionately interested in Israel-Hamas.

Not so interested in a European war.

It's interesting to see all those who were celebrating Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure now crying when the Russians hit back in kind.

Boris had a fantasy of himself as a Churchill figure but it was useful in terms of helping Ukraine so it's a pity he went in that respect.

The west including US must be low on weapons to spare that is the only explanation. Biden is still in charge in the US he is still the President. They must be running dangerously low with potential conflicts in Taiwan on the horizon as well.

it would absolutely never be revealed just how low they are on weapons. And no where in the western world is anywhere near a war economy to sustain a war like this .

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,637 ✭✭✭victor8600

They might be low on some popular 150mm artillery ammo. But there are multiple other older systems and ammo that Ukraine could use. Take F-16 as an example -- there are literally thousands to spare, yet Ukraine is being given only a few and those come with restrictions.

I mean completely forgetting that Russia was the one who started the attacks on energy infrastructure paradigm in winter of 2022. But ok Ivan. Go back to your vodka and cornflakes.

While it's pretty upsetting if it's true to see that the US may attempt to hamper Ukraine hitting oil refineries there could be a silver lining in it all.

    a) If the US are getting antsy about it then clearly it's hurting Russia badly.

    b) It's a truly effective piece of leverage given a). That is to say unless the US gets the finger out and unblocks the 60 billion aid package then what reason is there for Ukraine to stop?

I don't think it was an accident that Jake Sullivan suddenly showed up unannounced in Ukraine to promise Kiev that the aid was coming.

Typical Tankie logic. Russia has been targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, hitting residential & utility targets ever since the 2022 invasion, Russia has not changed it's tactics since, it has always done this since the war started. Ukraine has hit airfields & strategic military targets & tried to minimise civilian deaths. The last two months Ukraine attacked oil refineries with drones.

Claiming that Russia has just suddenly started doing the above is nothing but lies.

I don't see any of Russia's allies, supporters & useful idiot tankies calling for attacks on civilians to stop, unlike their enemy the USA is doing.

It's not much difference between WW2 Allied bombing of Germany day & night, with the Germans responding with V-1 & V-2 rocket attacks on Southern England. This conflict is approaching total war, time for maximum support for Ukraine, those hiding their heads in the sand will live to regret their inertia.
