Vodafone Router/Modem just disappears

Have Vodafone 100Mb broadband, standard Gigabit modem. Problem I have is that the modem will just disappear every now and again and with it the internet. It's so gone that even interrogating 192.168.1.1 on the Ethernet connection won't see the modem, it usually reappears again after 2 or 3 minutes and all will be fine…

Question, can I replace the Gigabit router with a FritzBox 7530, if so what settings do I need?
