Japan play a great brand of rugby

The attacking intent and offload in contact across their team is fantastic.

Ireland have regressed terribly IMO over the course of AF's tenure and there needs to be a reckoning.

    Marginal. They deserved the try.

    Ref is in fantastic shape

He could step in at flanker

Is it Cave on commentary? He's very good, good flow, easy to listen to.

No disputing the quality but that was not at all marginal

Good game management to keep scrumming them. More of that. Leadership required all over.

And then we kick it away with a pathetic chase. Wonderful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

JGP didn't need to kick that.

Japan's defence was retreating off the back of our strong maul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,619 ✭✭✭eigrod

That should be a binning, it was so blatant.

It was time for that a year ago.

No...its following the same stuff critics have been saying for some time. We look utterly crap with ball in hand. Whatever about AF Catt has to go.

    We are utterly crap

    Criminal waste from Kelliher.

FFs what a waste of a line out

Christ, if the ref has to shout at you by name to get back onside then just award the penalty, you’re a ref not a coach.

This team doesn't know what to do once we go two phases beyond the set play.

Did the lads meet up in the hotel car park this morning to learn a few calls

    Ffs Larmour

OK I'm all for having a hooker act as a 3rd flanker but if you can't throw straight then you're a liability

Japan are such an enjoyable team to watch.

We look like a team that's not really played together to be fair

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭KH25

Japan look much more composed and much better coached. They’re great to watch.

Pass to the wing and kick. You’d see better attacking shape from underage grade rugby in a few weekend time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

25 minutes in is the first time I remember Stockdale getting the ball

Japan are quicker of mind and action overall ...this try aside

Great try. Great play by O Mahony

    That's a decent try.

Sliding into Joey's head knee first!!!

Just so little invention from Ireland. Kick and hope.

More like it there. Low and behold, we can offload aswell.

Two poor choices by Carbery (kick prior to Larmour getting taken out and that choice to run into his own man), and that poor throw by Kelleher killing our momentum. All across the park though, we've been poor.

As I say it, well won by Carbery we get a nice score. Good hands.

    Lovely skillful try.

Great from Carbury grabbing a hold of the game, that's what you want to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Great linking pass from Doris to Keenan to draw in that extra Japan defender.

Thought one of our players may have run a blocking line to prevent a tackle though.

Beautiful hands and execution...more of that!

Dillane making an absolute mess of the restart again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,876 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

    Another re start mess up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That's a horror show from Dillane.

Dropped the restart then failed to clear out the Japan poacher.
