Hello again... good to be back! 😀

I've been advised on a US forum to use Scotchbrite pads -- green or white -- to clean a sticky brake disc and pads. Is this available in Ireland or can anyone suggest an alternative? TIA.

well its kinda like sandpaper in that its "gritted" green is average grit white possibly finer etc woodies or the likes might have some not sure what its supposed to do for you though ? a good scouring pad would be similar just not graded

Just want to get burnt-on crud off disc and pads, but without overdoing it. Hence the query re the grade.

Wouldn't a scouring pad be too much?

Scotch pads are good at cleaning most things made of stainless steel, I use them a lot on stainless sinks and other stuff. Easily purchased in Ireland at the likes of https://www.gasweld.ie/product/3m-scotchbrite-hand-pads/ amongst others. Just get the right grade.

any industrial abrasive seller should have them, or paint materials suppliers (car body repair use them too)

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Job done. Searched around and finally found Scotchbrite at J&S Dun Laoghaire. Also got brake cleaner at half Halford's prices.
