A visitor to an Indian reservation is invited in to the chief's teepee.

Inside are three women, two are sitting on buffalo hides, the third is sitting on a hippopotamus hide. (No, I don't know where they got it, just go with it).

"These are my squaws", says the chief, "and that one is my favourite", pointing to the squaw sitting on the hippo hide.

"Why is that?", asks the visitor.

"Because the squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sum of the squaws on on the other two hides".
