How do we pay for it?

From the same pot from where we paid Tubs, D'Arcy and Duffy €1.5m a year of course.

Yep any IT person with ambition is in the private sector....faffing about with antiquated systems in the public service is for people that want to crawl under their desks for 20 years and work part time.

is Dee Forbes not going back to the government trough today looking for more money for RTE ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,798 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

We don't have to pay for a bonus for people who work in shops....

I have zero issues with people like nurses getting it. I have a friend who works with people that have compromised immune systems...honestly she seriously went above and beyond, it took a toll on her.

Tossers from the ICT department expecting it is a pisstake (I work in IT).

Whilst there's no doubting some sectors made a lot of money during the pandemic, far more didn't and are still on their knees, actually some still afloat only because of government wage supports , I just think this notion, employers can magically cough (no pun intended) a €1000 bonus is Ludicrous.

    Joe nods, appreciatively.

Wait til we see the stories of people suing cos their relative caught covid and died in a private nursing home.

Will be easier than try take on the HSE facilities where similar things happened.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,798 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Absolute nonsense. I have worked in private and public sector, switched between them a few times. That is a seriously outdated view of public service ICT. Tossers like Sarah do exist but they are in the minority.

Part of the issue is it is hard to get specialist IT staff into the public sector due to the money. For years clown cars like PAS were putting generalists into specialist IT areas.

The place I have worked with the worst IT department an absolute shambles..a bank 100 percent.

Yes they are starting it off in some branches. I still don't know how supermarkets make money out of it, must be loss making, has to be circa 45 minutes of staff time on each order in the van between gathering the order instore, driving it out and dropping at the door. Additionally the cost of the IT system and delivery vehicles. A walk in shopper would typically interact for less than 5 minutes with the cashier, will impulse buy and be far more profitable. If I was Dunnes I wouldn't bother with it.

There not Cawlur , from what I heard no private institutions covered but there are a number of nursing homes run by and staffed by HSE

If dis is an opener for a week of moaning, it's a decent one

But what it needs is a bit of interaction between belligerent callers.....say one in a remote IT facility and a Musgrave wurker who loves getting into fights with customers

Add in someone who says they shouldn't get feck all

What about the man who went in to service the lift.

Of the fella who delivered the oxygen cylinders.

Or the fellas who collected the clinical waste.
