For sure. There’s a massive smell off this. Heavy on emotional bs and low on specifics. In any case Joe won’t help his case anyway

John, as is the norm for the average Liveline caller, is not giving the full story I'd say

Did he cycle home barefooted in a blizzard?

Is Frankie legal out in the states I wonder?

That man sounds a bit hysterical!! He didn't offer a brown envelope to the planning inspector.

Could John not have moved home when he and his partner decided in having bids in the first place?

He wants to come home because of all of the murders where he is. He obviously doesn't keep in touch with Irish news and all the murders here.

Sure we only have ur word about what you did.

All the neighbors want him back....right...

Thought he was 12 years. Now it's 14.

Who is supposed to call him from home ? About his planning?

Wife doesn't want a semi detached.

    Sorry for her now

Interesting point. If he’s not moved home, who is to say that he’s intent on actually moving home and not just wanting a holiday home/air bnb? Not knocking the guy but I’d imagine actually being here would demonstrate a commitment.

  • Kingsley Arms Hotel?

It’s called the Kingsley, Joe. One of my favourite hotels in Ireland, but I won’t be going near it during Funny Froyday.

Could he not move back and live locally somewhere for a few years and then try and get planning

😊Wife doesn't want a semi detached, oooh, well for her

  • Name and colour of de dog, please.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,142 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Whats de dog's name ??

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Red Fred

What colour is the barking dog?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,023 ✭✭✭squonk

Exactly. Sure half the country living abroad would want to build houses here if it was easily got. I’m not saying we have a perfect planning system. It’sa bit if a joke but I’d king more favourably in a guy living locally with god family than a lad hedging his bets who might likely up sticks again anyway.

How long has she been in the US? 2 years?

Surely the condition of this man's house is a matter fir his family. Shame on them for letting him get into this situation

You can't just bring someone into the US like that.

    Anonymous snitching.

    Brilliant

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,327 ✭✭✭Frank Grimes

Based on what he said (assuming I heard him correctly), it sounds like he's spent nearly half his life in the US so if he gave the Council that sort of information it probably didn't help the case he was trying to make. As others said though I doubt we were getting the full story.

  • Nursing home care?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,701 ✭✭✭leath_dub

Joe getting impatient with this wan - heading for 3pm and he probably hasd 2 ad breaks to get in

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,023 ✭✭✭squonk

He might own a house here but it sounds like he’s going to be permanently resident in the US now given his condition.

She shud have paid fir him to go into a nursing home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,330 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

    A non-contributory pension, for sure.

A contributory pension isn't hedged around like that - you can live abroad, no problem.
