Filter Coffee Machine Issues

    Howdy folks

    I recently purchased this Melitta filter machine (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B084ZJZPLV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_F2SEDZ28DVNJP0B53BNE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) as I liked the idea of brewing a big batch of coffee for working from home and the thermal jug keeps it warm for hours. The jug is great but....


    The big issue is I just can't get a nice cup from it. I have a cheap 20 quid Argos filter machine in our country place that makes surprisingly good and strong coffee so I was expecting the same here but this machine doesn't get any strength in the cup it just ends up bitter when using the same coffee and recipe as with the cheap machine.

    Any tips (other than using half a bag of coffee each time!) for getting a better cup? I usually go for a heaped table spoon per cup but nearly need to double that for any kind of strength and that's too much to be using. I'll probably try to return to amazon but figured it was worth asking for advice first!


    Edit to say if anyone has recommendations for a similar machine with thermal jug that can get a nice strong cup let me know!
