    Italian captain extremely lucky there

Don't think there was any malice...looked like a fend that wandered a bit, Harsh IMO

  • Registered Users Posts: 69,102 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

    Awful tackle there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Malice doesn't matter - first contact with Crothers was on his chin. I think yellow is as much as it deserved, but leading with the elbow like that is poor.

But speaking of poor - Italy have given away ten penalties, had fifteen minutes of fourteen players and are six pints behind. Ireland need to buck up their ideas.

    Six points. Obvs.

His first contact wasn't with the chin though it slipped up

I knw malice doesn't matter but it should, that is why it was harsh. Discretion would have allowed a ref to mitigate there.

    Harry Byrne off injured.

Because of course he can't have an injury free run.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Poor Harry Byrne. I hope his Irish U20s career isn't too badly disrupted.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,091 ✭✭✭✭ Rey Hot Fork

He did miss some of the 20s 6n and the 20s wc due to Injury to be fair

    That's lovely hurling now lads.

Good play there for that try, Lorcan McLaughlin has made some good impact off the bench. That should seal the game, now about getting that BP, 20 minutes to get it!

    bp done

Culhane MOTM? He's been brilliant this competition, but I think tonight he got credit for McNabney's carries and Crother's turnovers (and try).

Still, that's being crotchety. Glad we started to shape up.

Italy should still take some confidence.

More skills and ability on display than any other U29s year? The win over England was no fluke.

  • Registered Users Posts: 69,102 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Yeh...took a while. Can't afford the waste in the last two games.

    Thanks for posting!!

Well, that was a penalty fest! Italy cost themselves with penalties. They were probably up for it. Their scrum was dominant, but they don't have the discipline.

Our scrum is a worry. Disappointing to be honest. But the line out and maul are real weapons. Some good individual performers. Culhane, McNabney were really good. Postletwaite was impressive as was Campbell.

Tector has not impressed me whatsoever. He's fairly average and I wouldn't pick him for an academy position. I think Corkery is vastly better! He comes in with some hype and he's probably over-rated.

England will be a big ask! The scrum needs work.

Yeah I think ROG hyping him up done him no favours.

Anyone know which channel Saturday evening's U20 6N match is on?

I can't find it on epg of any Irish channels.

Thanks for this. Neither Saorview online guide nor Saorview epg are listing the game as being shown.

Sorry, LSD - I take it that's underage caps rather than caps for those clubs?

Still to be convinced by Ben Carson - surprised he's gone straight in there.

This team, despite having few notable world-beaters, are doing very well, and have eminently deserved their successes so far.
