Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

another discussion regarding the tax treatment of US dom ETFs on askaboutmoney, towards end of page, one poster Marc a financial expert is still of the opinion that some US dom ETFs are still taxed under "general principles" or CGT and that all that revenue has done is removed their previous 2015 guidance regarding US ETFs , therefore the treatment reverts to the position previous to this,

He introduced one example the SPDR S&P 500 ETF, he said that this is structured as a trust and is materially different to an Irish fund therefore it is still taxed under CGT or "general principles". The discussion got a bit heated after that with some regular contributors disagreeing with his analysis and actually smacking him down somewhat. However I think some of these contributors are actually establishment people and probably work for government in some shape or form

another development regarding ETF taxation, Jim O callaghan asked the minister finance on clarification regarding ETF taxation and if he would make a statement on the matter. A discussion on askaboutmoney has the question and answer from the minister

AAM website is not a kind place, a lot of trolls.

This ETF comment changes nothing, and there are no plans to change the tax status.
