For 2 grand it's pretty hard to get better right now.

Curry's have a PCSpecialist for 1919 with a slightly lesser CPU - 10700 (locked) & worse case (no airflow) but includes a 2TB HDD.

Dell have an XPS tower with 3060 Ti for 1519 (~17% slower) but it would be advisable to fix up the cooling with Asetek 645LT or Noctua NH-U9S.

I'm looking at a new build myself at the moment.

It seems to be possible to get a RTX 3080 build from pcspecialist.ie down to around 2100 if you don't mind a relatively modest CPU and motherboard.

There don't seem to be many (any?) games that benefit from more than (say) a 6-core 3500X at resolutions of 1440p and above.

edit: I'm not sure that AMD prices have come down enough for them to make sense over Intel for gaming, so maybe further savings are possible with Intel.

Such interesting times when PC specialist seem reasonable...

I've been trying to convince myself that RTX prices are getting more sensible....and then I open a review from last year and see references to the 3080 being a $700 part.

    You don't want the 3500X, it's 6 cores without multi-threading.

3600X is the better cheap option, or Intel.

in fairness I remember buying a 8800GTX for 640e way back in the day so really GPU prices haven't been too bad at all. There's a common thought that Nvidia/AMD are quoting lower than possible prices knowing no manufacturer will be anything near it and blaming them then for the price increases or gouging etc.

I can't post links because... boards, but on PC specialist:

    i5 10400f 6c12t CPU

Gigabyte B560M DS3H (rev. 1.0) motheboard (so you can run RAM above 2666 or whatever that stupid Intel limitation is)

    16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB) RAM

10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 - HDMI, DP, LHR GPU

    1TB PCS 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 470MB/W)

    2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE

CORSAIR 750W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET

CoolerMaster Hyper 212 (120mm) Fan CPU Cooler Black Edition

LIAN LI LANCOOL II GAMING CASE

    €1,984.00 inc VAT and Delivery

    Now you're down 2 cores and 4 threads, but;

You get a 3080 which is a significant jump over the 3070

    Better PSU

1TB SSD ableit not NVMe, so slower but irrelevant for gaming

2TB Hard Drive for game backups or whatever else

The catch is you have to put windows on a USB and install it yourself for that price, but if you wanted to get 10 Home it would be €2102. I'd strongly suggest the former and save €118.
