So my partners cousin plays fornite and when he is playing online after awhile his ps5 will just itself off aka completely shut it off as if there is a power cut.

i checked if the PS5 firmware is up to date and the same goes for fornite also and it’s is, seems to happen only when playing fornite online.

is this happening to anyone else? I don’t know what’s wrong or how to fix it for him.

Most common cause is overheating. Does he play other games for as long, is the PS5 in a ventilated spot etc.?

Nothing wrong, the PS5 just has good taste.

Think of all the energy, C02 emissions and wasted time saved if all consoles had this feature. 😊(Sorry, not helpful)

Here is a link that describes the symptoms of overheating, so by the sounds of it you should be hearing the fan kicking in first.

Weird. Uninstall and reinstall? Maybe its corrupted or something?

Strange one, in the absence of any other suggestions you could see if you can maybe improve the airflow to it

Is there a gap around it or is it squeezed in under the TV?

+1 for airflow. First thing to do is move it temporarily to somewhere out in the open and play fortnite for a while. If that fixes it then he needs to find a more ventilated home for it.
