That's pretty much the language of any committee report, the general idea is to make suggestions and allow a minister to make a decision

Any word on the 7% VRT going up? Aside from the VRT rebate ending let’s face it a VRT rate of just 7% is not feasible long term and will have to go up to the average rate charged today or net revenue from VRT will fall off a cliff

We are the only country in western europe that charges any VAT on EVs. We already give 23% VAT on EV purchases. the 7% VRT should be removed.

If you look at the tesla used inventory sites (not the tesla based one but third party, which show all EU wide inventory in one place) you can see how bad our car taxes on purchase are compared to elsewhere. Not even outliers like Norway, but "normal" western countries like Germany, France etc

It is nonsense that they'd be pulling the incentives that early, it will completely flatline EV take up as current prices without the Grant are still out of the reach of even most "middle class" families. This has already happened to the Commercial/Business EV sector when the Grants were eliminated. Companies just went back to Buying Passats and Golfs.

The manufacturers won't cater for Irish Law as the market just isn't worth the bother.

Between VRT and VAT on these vehicles we already pay the highest in Europe for showroom prices of EVs.

Reality is that the Cars that would be available at the lower sub 30k level just dont cut it for Young Families, who are the ideal target for these types of Vehicles.

What Family on a combined income of 120k before Tax Is going to Justify spending €56k on a lower spec Hyundai IONIQ 5, when you can get the Hybrid Tucson for €38k?

Even the range of most of the Cars Under 40k tend to be unrealistically low. People wont make the EV jump for cars with that range. I haven't for that exact reason.
