How to get into the BIOS of an Acer Aspire S5 ?

    Hi,

I have an old Acer Aspire S5 with no hard drive (it has been physically removed). My plan was to boot it from a live Linux image on a USB stick. The problem is I can't figure out how to get into the BIOS to tell it to boot from the USB port. The boot sequence is very quick and basically stops at a screen which says "No Bootable Device, Hit any Key' in under a second. When I record it on my phone I see that there is a splash screen but all it says is "Acer explore beyond limits TM" ; it doesn't give any indication of what button to hit to access the BIOS. Usually I expect F12 to get me into the BIOS but that hasn't worked, Googling suggests maybe F2 or Del instead, neither of them has worked yet either but given the sequence is so fast it might just be incorrect timing. So, does anyone know for sure what key I should be hitting for this model (Model # Q3ZMC, S5-39153314G12AKK) ? Or even better, is there some guaranteed way of accessing the BIOS instead of relying on hitting a particular key 'at the right time' ? If I open it up is there some internal switch or something I can use to access the BIOS ?

    Thanks,

    Zozo

It turns out that F2 was the correct key to access the BIOS but the problem was that the ribbon cable from the keyboard to the motherboard was not connected. Problem solved.
