Settled Case 'on the steps' what documentation should I receive/request?

Hi all, I recently settled a civil case (plaintiff) & was informed of the total settlement amount on the day, however I did not receive any written/formal documentation around this.

My solicitor is now providing a statement of account whereby they are claiming their bill as a deduction from the total settlement amount, to the tune of almost 8%.

There is no mention of the Barristers (SC & JC) costs & therefore I assume that these were negotiated as additional to the settlement amount.

Is there an 'industry standard' document which I can request sight of from the Barrister/Solicitor so that I can be assured that the solicitor costs are deductible from the settlement and were not covered in the 'extras' negotiated?

*EDIT: Is it usual for Barrister costs but not Solicitor costs to be covered in an agreed settlement?

Many thanks for any information, insight or personal experience anyone can provide.
