Those half and half Patriots/Bucs Brady jerseys are one of the cringiest things I've ever seen.

Wonder how much the weather will impact Brady and Bucs, presumably plays into the type of game the Patriots want.

Brady looked a bit overhyped on that first drive - see if he calms down as we'd expect with his pedigree.

Tight, low scoring affair so far. I just have a feeling it won't stay like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well that int isn't on Mac Jones, just brilliant defensive play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

That's a fantastic drive by Mac. Spotty offensive line play, pressure in his face more often than not, but what a drive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That was brilliant work by Mac Jones. He led them all the way down the field and overcame two holding penalties to get us in the end zone.

    7-3 Patriots.

Nice to see the Chiefs offense back in form earlier, albeit against a pretty bad D.

Intriguing SNF game at the moment, Pats doing well on both sides of the ball.

good game so far. I got my wish, not a blowout (so far). I loved the low scoring rams pats superbowl

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

The Bucs are really missing Gronk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,778 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Refs throwing ridiculous flags all game.

That's a hell of a drive from Mac Jones, sets up this last quarter very nicely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Another phenomenal drive by Mac Jones. Patriots back in front 14-13.

Steve Belichick looks like he's had a few pregame lines 😁

Yeah young Belichick is gonna be on plenty of GIFs if he keeps making faces. 😁

Bucs back on top with field goal to take a two point lead. We need Mac to do it again now. This has certainly been his coming out party. Hopefully it continues.

It's been a great game of ball.

this is why I stayed up. the tension is unreal so it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,778 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

2 possessions left in this game yet, albeit the if the Buccs score the Pats will likely have less than 2 mins.

So this is how it feels...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

Ugh, Henry was wide open with absolutely no one near him on that near interception.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,744 ✭✭✭MyPeopleDrankTheSoup

the refs are kinda screwing the pats. that out of bounds on the return was crazy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,744 ✭✭✭MyPeopleDrankTheSoup

any video or image of this? they didn't show much replays

Stupid play calling given the situation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,744 ✭✭✭MyPeopleDrankTheSoup

AB should have caught both of those

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Come on Mac, clutch time, go do it!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

No good from 56 and that's the game, a good loss for the Pats though if there's such a thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,778 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

    What a game..

Edit actually: What a dramatic finish. Poor quality game tbf but Mac Jones was very impressive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,333 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

Ugh, stupid decision to go for the FG there. Ridiculous call. Cowardly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,744 ✭✭✭MyPeopleDrankTheSoup

ah crap, we all wanted a final Brady drive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well gotta say I'm shocked they decided to go for the field goal there. Sad end to the night.

TB12 now resumes his status as our GOAT.

First and last time staying up for a regular season game.. Happy I did but christ it's late!

I would say neither Brady nor Bill will be happy with that. Bill because of the loss. Brady because he is aware Bill stymied him and won the NE defense vs Tampa offense chess match.

As for the field goal. Folk has been good and it was pretty close. That drive was not really working and most of the yardage had come on a lucky pass interference.

  • Registered Users Posts: 320 ✭✭collybyrne

Much closer game than I thought it would be, probably only Bellicheck could have created that many headaches for an offense like the Bucs with those personnel on D. It's one thing the Rams giving them a hard time with Donald and Ramsey, it's a whole other thing doing it purely through coaching and strategy.

Couple of great drives from Mac and loads of promise there for the future, but overall that New England offense is still a long way from being able to compete with the big dogs in the league. Even against a team with virtually no secondary there was no deep threat at all. The O Line has struggled every week, not just against Vea, Suh et al and Mac is taking a beating back there.

I'm still excited to see where the Pats go from here and it's definitely more positive than watching Cams struggles last season, just think Mac and McDaniels are gonna need this season to really figure it out before they're back in the January mix.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,156 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

Bill did a great job but the Patriot's defense are hardly all poor players - they mightn't have Donald or Ramsey but I'd argue they have several very good guys and what they lack in star power they make up for in solid depth - Judon also looks like a fantastic signing. The weather also clearly played a part, it far more suited the gameplan the Patriots have gone with this season than what the Bucs have been doing - now the argument could be made that they should have adjusted but it isn't easy to pivot drastically. Made the game a mess to watch qualitywise, though it did add to the tension.

Bucs are lucky that their schedule eases up now - their secondary is basically non-existent through all those injuries. They were very lucky last year in that regard so it normally balances out the following one. From what I saw of Sherman last year and last night, he doesn't look like he'll be saving the day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,139 ✭✭✭cosatron

Sherman is done. Getting picked on by a rookie isn't a good look

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

You know I could counter argue that the weather helped the Bucs because on a dry night it's much easier to pass the ball and with their secondary issues they'd have been in a lot more trouble.

Just saying, not being very serious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

In fairness the guy just arrived in Tampa, he has to learn the system and get up to fill fitness. He's an old guy now so it's going to take him longer to get up to speed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,156 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

Glad you're not very serious - to do so you'd have to ignore the extremely low intended air yards of Mac Jones all season (and college) and believe he would suddenly start taking deeper shots at a rate we haven't yet from him, greater than the likely uptick from Brady in their more aggressive system (even after last night Brady's average intended air yards per play is 8.9 and Jones' is 7.4).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Funny you mention Brady. Many times it was said he doesn't have the arm and that's for years while he was in the NFL.

As for Mac Jones, if you don't think he can throw the deep ball.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Great fun tonight, lightning in the area and kick off put back despite the fact it's an indoor stadium.

Must say I am enjoying the multi-faceted offences of both the Chargers and Cardinals so far. Herbert looks the real deal even if he doesn't have the explosiveness on his feet of Murray, Mahomes or Jackson.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Another great standalone game, even though the Chargers looked to be out of sight at half time.

That stadium has rocketed up my to visit list in the future.

    10-6 so 35- 29 which a bit better of a record.

Don't forget Darnold, most rushing TDs in the league so far this season!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,075 ✭✭✭Christy42

8-8 leads me to 39-25. Not a good week. I was sure I picked the Buccs over the Pats but I wrote what I wrote. I blame the new site messing up my initial post! (Possibly not a good excuse given I did edit it but whatever).

    10 - 6 takes me to 41 - 23 for the season.

Tough weekend for picks so happy to come out with a winning record. Cards Rams and SNF probably the pick of the weekend but I think a special mention should go to the Ravens for going into Mile High and never looking like they were gonna lose that one. I think that Broncos team are the real deal this year and yes they lost Bridgewater at half-time but the first half didn't look any different to the second.

Seems like there's so many good teams and in particular great QBs in the league at the minute. All 3 of Murray, Herbert, Jackson are getting close to Mahomes levels of awesomeness this year. with Josh Allen looking just as good as he did last year too. When you think of the potential of this years 1st rounders as well, we could really be looking at a golden decade of quarter back play in the NFL.

Shout out to all the NY fans on here as well, great to see both teams get some good news at last, it's been a tough run for you guys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,318 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

He ran half the field out of bounds. If you're out of bounds (forced out) you have to rejoin the field of play and cant keep running out of bounds. If you're out of bounds it's an unfair advantage as the opposition can't leave the field to block you.

It was a good call IMO.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,156 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

The usual strawman from you, I never said Jones can't throw a deep ball.

Now that you have failed to move the discussion to the one you'd like to have, can you point to your evidence of Jones being able to keep up a sustained aggressive shoot out style game plan to the level of Brady in the Bucs system when playing NFL level talent?

Also, to talk about Brady's arm in the same discussion as Mac Jones' is doing Brady a huge disservice.

So what was that comment 'low intended air yards in the NFL and in college' about then?

He averaged 11.2 yards per attempt in college last season.
