Is the PDF to fill in with your details faulty for anyone else? I have updated to the latest version of Adobe Reader to access it but still a section is missing

I didn’t even pass these tests.. Second year to fail them in a row! Maybe third time lucky!? 😂😂😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭cvb03

Sorry to hear, I failed twice in a row too, this is my 3rd year lucky. Definitely apply again next year, wishing you the best of luck in your job search.

Yes, having the same issue myself. Have you reached out to PAS yet for assistance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 RedmondBarry

I downloaded the detailed application form and it is 3 pages long with a Section A (Academic & Employment record) and a Section C (Supplementary Information, Notes, Declaration).

There is no Section B. Nothing about specific competences as far as I can see.

Has anyone else seen this? Is it normal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Mine's the same. When I open it in the browser (which one can't fill-in correctly), there is a bit about supplementary questions. When opened in a pdf reader like Adobe, there's section A & C and nothing about these supplementary questions.

Honestly, PAS seriously needs to get their act together.

I was reading the other day in an article, that depending on what age they are hired, it costs the civil service up to 4m euro to recruit, train, pay and retain an AO over the lifetime of their career. For such a consequential hire, this is what the recruitment process is like? Give me strength.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Tadhgg

It looks like Section B has been mislabelled as Section A.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 SavageSpuds

Yes this is what I have on my application form too. Based on previous PAS application forms, section B consists of supplementary questions re competencies which do not feature on this AO application form so it skips straight to section C.

Hi guys this was my third time and yet again I failed the situational judgement - not sure how when it was just replying to emails maybe I did it too quickly?! Well done ..any advice cvb03?

Not sure it’s anything to do with being too quick, probably more how you answered. I know a few people in the civil service and they suggested to always pick the option that allows you to help as much as you can while also not going over anyones head (I.e. if one of the options suggests you check with someone more senior then you should pick that) I hope this makes sense!! And good luck for next time round 🙂

Does anybody have a copy of the initial competition information booklet. I broke my old phone over the weekend and had it saved on there!

Any help would be much appreciated! 😁

Has anyone else not received the email from Sonru with the link to complete the video questions? I’ve checked my spam and junk folders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 newbe64

    Hi,

I haven't received it yet either, i checked spam and junk folders too... nothing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 jevans1990

    Hi,

Did you get a message saying that was the next stage from public jobs?

I haven't received anything since the application form sent after the test results.

    Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 newbe64

    Hi,

No, I didn't get that message. Nothing.

    Thanks.

I think they're doing the streams first (Health / HR / Business & Finance) and will do the general after working out who is eliminated from those streams.

Anyone know how PAS decide whether to use AON or SHL tests?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

It's a good question. Perhaps they tender every year and whoever is cheapest?

I send feedback to PAS on the tests and gave them hell about the tests. I really hope they take a look at this side of the process, it's a real letdown the way they are done.

Anyone in the various non-general streams know when we should expect the results of the Sonru interview back?

I suspect they are going to try to conclude the streams recruitment before proceeding to the general.

Health Policy would most likely be with the Department of Health. The HSE wouldn't recruit from this completion as this is a civil service recruitment competition and the HSE is public service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭cvb03

I am thinking soon enough because the final stage - Invitation to Assessment Centre (Zoom) and completion is meant to be early December 🤞

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Fingers crossed indeed. Is there any way of finding out how many AOs are recruited by stream?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 irishgal92

In case anyone else is wondering, I haven’t heard anything back from the Sonru interview assessments yet, I am 67 on the Finance and Business stream. Does anyone know when we will hear back ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭La Bamba

I have just heard back and unfortunately I was unsuccessful in the video interview I completed..

It doesn't seem to clearly state whether I will be considered for the General AO stream going forward or whether this just applies to the General Stream? I am ranked quite high so I feel I might be in with a good shout..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭dublin_Horse

Has anybody who only applied for the general stream heard anything back after submitting the education form etc? I thought I would have heard how many they were taking in by now but nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Think they will look after the streams first (off the back of the Sonru interviews) and those who were unsuccessful in that will be put back into the general stream rankings and they'll go from there.

As per poster above, still waiting on news of my Sonru result for Business and Finance stream.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭La Bamba

Would you happen to know this for certain that those who were unsuccessful in the streams will be put back into the general stream rankings?

I was unsuccessful in my own stream so it would be great to know for sure whether there is still some hope left for me as the message I received didn't seem to be clear in whether Im eliminated from both or not! 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Highly doubt they'd knock you out of the general because of getting excluded from another stream.

Nobody has received anything from the GS following the submission of forms.

You may actually find your order of merit will go up as other candidates ahead of you take up positions on other streams.

PAS should be able to clarify but I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 irishgal92

So sorry to hear this! I haven’t heard anything back from my Sonru interview as of Saturday 27th Nov.

    Hi folks,

Not sure if this is the case for everyone but I'm in the General Stream and have been invited to an interview and presentation (all remote), 3 topics to choose from, topics will be sent 1 week in advance of interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭La Bamba

Thank you, that makes sense - I will reach out to them to clarify to be sure though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 TomHow

1-40 range, I'm sorry I can't be more specific, I'm sure 'they' keep an eye on these forums

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

The very best of luck with it. Half the battle is getting to interview and getting the chance to impress in the first place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 SB0503

Did people receive any news for the B/F stream? I heard nothing yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Nothing as of yet. This week with a bit of luck we'll get some news.

Found that one-way interview a tricky business. 3 minutes per question really felt quite short and isn't a long time to stretch your legs on any topic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 SB0503

Yea I struggled with timing my answers for 2/3 questions. Ah well, it's done now. Just want to know the results at this point 😞

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Have my result for the B&F stream Sonru interview.

    Relatively happy with the score.

Doesn't say if I'm being called forward to the next stage or not, just that people will contacted via their message board and thank you for applying.

Has anyone here been called forward to the next stage?

    Hi

I passed the video interview as well. Happy enough with my score, disappointment as well, cos I put a huge amount of effort in.

Anyways no email on when the interview will take place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Ok, was contacted with an interview date (B&F). A bit confusing as it looked as if it was for the general stream, but it seems like AO candidates from whatever stream go through the same final interview format.

    Fingers crossed for everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 irishgal92

I passed my Sonru interviews! No contact about the 3rd round yet. Happy that I passed but definitely thought I would’ve scored higher, I have a feeling they mark very strictly on those interviews.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 TomHow

In my eyes it is so much effort, a presentation, followed by questions and then the actual interview. I wonder would I be better off just looking for an EO role where you just have an interview, no aptitude, presentations etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 JackieOnassis

Has anyone heard anything in relation to the Irish stream?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 rose1010101

Not sure where you’ll find an EO role without an aptitude test and and an e tray? Probably just the same amount of effort

Got my B&F results yesterday . I didn't pass to the next stage but I have appealed and I am now looking for an informal review. I am on the general board still and they have invited those who placed 45 and above to the assessment centre in December.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 PiPi78

Hi. Did they give you a marking scheme before the interview ? I thought the answers were quite open . I have given official figures from the Revenue and Dept of Finance but it seems to me they marked the person rather than the content.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Did you pass? I reckon you're still in the hunt. I don't think they called too many for B&F in this batch as the current hiring drive (at all grades) is huge and they're probably cutting their cloth to measure trying to squeeze in interviews where they can.

Going from last year's thread there will be further B&F batches called for interview probably after Xmas / New Year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭Protoman

Note also if you're in multiple streams, the one interview/presentation at final stage will determine your OOM in all the streams you're a candidate in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 happylad21

For anyone who passed the video interview, could I ask you on average what score did ye get per question. I'm just wondering what is considered a good score is and what did other people got? You don't need to give your specific score.

I also have a second question, if your in multiple streams say you get called to interview for example in batch 1 for a stream and your successful and your get your OOM. Does that mean your in batch 1 for all streams with that OOM or do you get a different batch number with your OOM say when your other streams reaches interview stage. I'm not sure if that makes sense.
