Working Remotely from Ireland For an Australian Company

Hi All,

Just curious if anyone who worked for a company in Australia has moved back to Ireland and remains working for the Australian company? My wife id it for a few months when we moved back and it worked really well before her contract was up. She is considering if it would be possible to go back into a role for an Australian company working from Ireland.

Reason is that she wants to work part time (3 days a week) and there is very few opportunities to do this with companies in Ireland but several jobs available on Seek at the minute.....Its in IT.

I don’t see how practically this could work on a long term basis , she would nit be working the same hours as anyone else in the company

It very much depends on the role she fills, and on how much liaison with colleagues and/or clients is necessary, desirable, advantageous or beneficial in that role. If she's already in a job where she speaks to no-one from one end of the day to the next, can work just as well from home as in the office, and is not expected to reply to emails on the day she receives them, then it could work quite well. But most roles are not like that, and some adaptation would be required. Then you are down to how keen the employer is to have you in the position.

I've been doing it for the last few months and it's been working out ok. Getting good feedback from my employer too. I've been getting up early to get a two hour crossover with the Syd timezone, this time is mostly spent on Zoom catching up with everyone.

Bit of a pain going to bed so early but it's great since the daylight savings ended recently.
