Caverject treatment for ED

Anyone here any experience of long term use of caverject (Alprostadil)? It’s the one that you have to inject into your shaft.

Tried it for the first time yesterday as other options didn’t work for me. Let’s just says the results were impressive. On a relatively low dose I was rock hard for about 2 hours.

The main downside (other than the syringe I guess lol) is the cost. Works out about €14 a go, which I’d consider just about worth it given the results.

Is it possible to get it any cheaper or generic? Anyone have experiences to share?

    Thanks,

    AG

I've no experience of ED. But, in my naievity, I thought that Viagra was the game changer with universal results. Obviously not, hence your post OP.

Unfortunately there is no universal game changer with ED - as there is no single underlying cause. It can be anything. Stress. Bad Diet. Obesity. Diabetes. Blood Circulation problems. Low Self Esteem. Depression. Hormonal issues. And who knows what else.

So taking drugs for it is always something to be cautious of. Is the drug actually addressing the underlying cause? Or is it addressing the symptom and hiding the underlying cause which will - at best - continue unabated or - at worst - be something that is getting consistently worse over time?

There is also the issue of Placebo to consider. If there are emotonal or mental health reasons for your ED then taking a drug for it can have a placebo effect. So the drug may in fact be doing nothing at all.

Worse - studies have shown that the more impactful the application of the placebo is - the strong the placebo effect can be. So a pill can be more effective than a spoonful of medicine. And an injection can be more effective than a pill. Even if the placebo itself is identical. Surgical placebo is also quite effective at times and is about as stark an intervention as you can do other than injections.

So an injection directly into your penis - well potentially that is about as good as it gets when it comes to placebo effect. The idea of injecting any one single part of the body in the "Long term" does not seem ideal to me though. It brings to mind the image people have of junkies searching their entire body for an as yet undamaged vein to use for the next hit.

So really while I would not be preaching against the use of Viagra and this Caverject (which I know nothing about - i should add) - I mean if it works for you go for it - I would strongly preach for doing everything in your power to seek the underlying cause for the ED itself too. Including visiting multiple doctors - preferably of multiple nationalities and ages and types so you get a true diversity of medical opinions.

Part of that should be to explore when ED events happen. If it is constantly 100% of the time - that can be informative of perhaps an underlying physical issue. If for example it only happens when you are with a partner - but not when masturbating, viewing porn, and/or waking up with the morning horn of glory - this might be more indicative of a mental health or emotional issue in play. While if it is entirely random - working sometimes in all situations and other times not in the same situations - perhaps it is a mix of the two. And so on.
