Hi there. Just enquiring does anyone know if it is possible to get the BCG Polio vaccine in Dublin or anywhere within within a 100kms of Dublin. My other kids have it and we have a new baby but nowhere seems to do it anymore. We travel to Latvia that has a high enough Polio rate so better safe than sorry. Hope someone can help PLEASE.

The polio vaccine is part of the 6 in 1 vaccine, which every child gets.

The BCG vaccine protects against TB, and that is not routinely given at the moment.

    BCG vaccine stopped in 2015.

I think 2 seperate things happened in the supply chain and then it was deemed unnecessary.

Have you talked to your gp? They may be able to order it, for a fee I'd imagine.

But I'm not sure on availability due to supply chain issues.

Might be worth trying some of the travel health clinics. They specialise in vaccines which are non-standard in Ireland, but required or recommended for other countries.

You cannot source the BCG vaccine in Ireland.

When I was born in 1991 I had very serious complications and was immediately transferred to Crumlin Children's hospital where giving vaccines were nit a priority. As time went by into the mid 1990s my parents were told it was no longer given

It was always a very centralised vaccine, wasnt available through GPs. Great pity

Private clinics in Belfast or more likely the UK might be the only hope now as far as I know it's not in stock here now .

When Covid first came along there was a big rush for the BCG vaccine as nobody had a clue about Covid ,but it seemed at the time that people who received the BCG vaccine as a kid were getting more mild symptoms after contracting Covid .

Life is a journey, you don’t care about the destination, you care about the scenery along the way and the mood of seeing the scenery.

Others laughed at me as crazy, I laughed at others and couldn't see through.
