I have a load of strawberry plants which I have in small pots (they were runners off the main plants). I was thinking of putting plants AND pots into the ground to overwinter; and then lift them into their planting position in the springtime. Good or bad idea? Thanks

Any particular reason why you can't put them in their planting positions now?

The problem with planting pots is that the roots will come out of the bottom of the pot and anchor themselves anyway, then in trying to get the pot off you will damage those roots and you will be no better off.
