Length of cable for generator

Just got a generator but need to get a cable to connect from house to where I'll use generator. I'll get 3core 6mm sy cable. Is there a max length?? Need about 30 to 35m to get this to garage will there be a voltage drop? Or what do you recommend?

You need to consider the load, the size / rating of the generator, protection type and rating. If you could state what these are it help with advising you.

There will be a volt drop on every cable regardless of size. Whet you are trying to do is keep this within acceptable limits.

Hi its a primac px 8000 6kva 5.4kwh. Will just be using for power outage so lights oil boiler and cooking but won't have heavy loads. 1 x tv charge phone the basics

Should be ok with that lady. Think you mean PRAMAC generator. I have the smaller girl ( px5000) & she's ideal for outages. Obviously don't go mad with shower/ tumble dryer but for cooker / tv/ fridge freezer ( basics) you're laughing with that girl. Mine is 24Metre shed/to/house.

What spec cable did you get 3 core 6mm? Also did you use rubber flex hearlt resistant or a shielded cable?

Agree with Ken’s post assuming the house wiring is sound, and the lighting is LED that cable size and run would be fine. I expect that a 16A MCB would be about right.
